The purpose of this paper is to get the criterion for selection of educational contents in education of Korean language history. The result of this paper is as follow. Firstly, there is no content of Korean language history except ‘Hangeul’ in common curriculum, and between ‘Korean language arts Ⅱ’ and ‘reading & grammar’, the hierarchy of educational contents is unclear. Secondly, for education of Korean language history, contents are very various in textbooks. But it is the characteristic that some of them is repeated in lessons of each textbook. Thirdly, for selection of educational contents, the criterion can present according to ‘knowledge’, ‘inquiry & application’, ‘affectivity’. academic definiteness, learning possibility, typicality of periods, and practicality related to the interpretation of classic literature are important criterions in ‘knowledge’. In ‘inquiry & application’, the inquiry possibility for learner, the link of present Korean language, the extension of ability for using language, the possibility of new recognition for language and culture are major criterions. And in ‘affectivity’, the interest in knowledges of Korean language history, the possibility of leading interest in Korean language history and Korean language culture can be consider.

본고는 교육과정을 중심으로 국어사 교육의 목표와 내용을 살펴보고, 국어사 교육 내용의 선정 기준을 마련하는 데에 중점을 둔 것이다. 지금까지 논의한 내용을 간단히 정리하면서 다음과 같다. 우선 현재 국어과 교육과정의 국어사 교육 내용은 한글 관련 내용만 공통 교육과정에서 다루고 있으며, ‘국어Ⅱ’와 ‘독서와 문법’의 국어사 교육 내용은 그 위계성이 명확하지 않다. 또한 교과서에 나타난 국어사 내용을 살펴보면, 교육 내용이 다양화되기는 했지만 대부분 고대국어, 중세국어, 근대국어를 중심으로 몇몇 교육 내용이 중복되어 나타나고 있다는 특징이 있다. 국어사 내용의 선정 기준은 국어과 내용 체계인 ‘지식, 탐구와 적용, 태도’에 따라 제시하였다. ‘지식’과 관련해서는 학술적 명확성, 학습 난이도, 시기별 대표성, 고전문학 해석과 관련한 실용성에 중점을 두어야 한다. ‘탐구와 적용’과 관련한 기준에는 학습자의 탐구 가능성, 현대국어와의 연관성, 언어 사용 기능의 신장, 우리말과 문화에 대한 새로운 인식의 가능성을 제시하였다. 또한 ‘태도’와 관련해서는 국어사 지식 자체의 흥미, 국어사에 대한 흥미 유발 가능성, 국어문화에 대한 흥미 유발 가능성을 고려해야 할 것으로 보았다.
