The aim of this paper is to reflect on Donald W. Winnicott's concept "Holding Environment" from the perspective of a feminist pastoral theology. I will use Carrie Dohering's feminist theological method to rethink this thesis using literature reviews and case studies from a feminist pastoral theological perspective. I will critique Winnicott's presupposition of traditional motherhood which reinforces a patriarchal understanding of women's roles as full-time mothers who can exclusively focus on nurturing their infant(s). Also, Winnicott's idealization of the role of the mother as the ideal primary caregiver will be examined. Then, the diversity of motherhood and parenthood within Korean society will be reviewed and why the new holding environment needs to be investigated and rethought to suit the needs of 21st century Korean family structures. Thereafter an understanding of holding environment will be suggested which presupposed the mutually important tasks of caring for the infant(s) (+the care of the primary caregiver(s)) and the primary care giver(s) (+the community care for the primary caregiver(s)). Then, the case study of Mia Kim will be used to imagine how we can specifically envision the negative example of an unhealthy holding environment for both infants and mothers. Finally, new feminist theological and public theological suggestions for pastoral care will be offered that allow for creating mutual holding environments.

이 논문은 여성목회신학적인 관점에서 도널드 위니캇 (Donald W. Winnicott)의 안아주기 환경(holding environment) 개념을 성찰하면서, 새로운 상호적 목회 돌봄에 대한 가능성을 연구한 글이다. 연구 방법론은 캐리 도어링 (Carrie Dohering)의 여성주의 목회 신학적 방법론을 사용하였다. 이 논문의 전개는 다음과 같다. 1장에서는 연구 방법론을 소개하고 전반적인 연구의 전개와 주제를 제시할 것이다. 2장에서는 도널드 위니캇의 안아주기 환경을 여성주의적 시각에서 비평적으로 재고할 것이다. 첫째로 안아주기 환경 개념의 이론적 배경이 되는 전통적인 모성 이해에 대한 비평을 한다. 둘째로 안아주기 환경 개념의 지나친 영아 편향적인 성향과 초기 돌봄 제공자에 대한 돌봄 결여에 대한 문제를 지적할 것이다. 3장에서는 기독교 신앙을 가진 미아라는 여성의 모성 경험과 신앙생활을 분석함으로써 목회적 돌봄으로서의 상호적 안아주기 환경의 중요성을 제시할 것이다. 4장에서는 여성목회신학적 성찰과 목회적 돌봄에 대한 제언을 할 것이다. 기존의 모델은 영아와 엄마를 안아주기 환경의 두 구성요소로 보고 있는 것에 반해, 상호적 안아주기 환경은 유아와 초기 돌봄 제공자, 유아를 안아주는 환경으로서 초기 돌봄 제공자의 중요성이 강조되고, 초기 돌봄 제공자의 안아주기 환경으로서 공동체의 돌봄이 강조될 것이다[영아+(초기 돌봄 제공자의 돌봄)↔초기 돌봄 제공자(+공동체의 돌봄)]. 육아의 문제는 더 이상 개인의 문제가 아니고, 여성목회신학적, 공공신학적 관점의 돌봄의 과제가 되어야 한다.
