In the second decade of the 21th century the whole global community including Korea is confronted with serious family crises. The severe extent of the crises is exceeding far beyond any human history in the past. Under the sweeping influence of globalization the nuclear family system of modern society is currently deconstructed into nuclear-fission family state of postmodern age. Since Korean society is experiencing this kind of rapid change in an expedited and condensed manner, many families in Korea exhibit their maladies in various forms such as sharp increase of divorce rate, domestic violences, and destructive behaviors. Being aware of these serious problems, this study investigates characteristics and factors of globalization process and family crises. This study undertakes the inquiry of finding an appropriate theological stance with which Christian individuals and families can overcome the threat of secularization and globalization force. Based upon this theological stance Christian families need to find basic principles which can guide them toward an appropriate direction. This study pays attention to establishing basic principles of Christian family education including purpose, scope, method of Christian family education in a global era. An emphasis was laid upon the significance of parental roles as spiritual guides and mentors for children. As a final step practical suggestions and tips for Christian family education are provided. They include education for physical health, economic management, preparation for jobs and careers, maturation of personality, and JPIC (Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation). In conclusion, a poetic phrase such as “Anchored to the Rock and geared to the times!” is proposed as a direction, which is needed for Christian family education in the era of globalization.

21세기의 두 번째 10년 기를 맞는 한국 및 세계의 상황은 과거 그 어느 때보다 심각한 가정의 위기를 경험하고 있다. 특히 지구화 또는 세계화라는 거대한 변화의 흐름 앞에서, 인간 삶의 기본 단위인 가정은 핵가족을 넘어 핵분열의 시대에 직면하고 있다고 해도 과 언이 아니다. 특히 서구가 수백 년에 걸쳐 경험하였던 변화를 한 세대 속에서 압축적으로 경험하는 한국의 가정들은 너무나 빠른 변화의 가속도 속에서 다양한 부적응증과 심각한 멀미를 하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 상황 속에서 바로 눈앞에서 빠른 속도로 진행되고 있는 세계화의 특성 및 변화 요인들은 무엇이며 이러한 세계화로 인한 가정의 위기의 모습은 어떠한 것인지를 면밀히 고찰해볼 필요가 있다. 세계화의 추세와 함께 급속한 세속화의 영향력에 대해 기독교 개 인 및 가정은 어떠한 대응을 해야 하는가에 대한 기본 입장을 정립하고 이러한 시대 속에 서 요청되는 기독교가정교육의 기본 원리를 모색해 보았다. 이러한 기독교가정교육의 기본 원리로서 교육목적, 교육내용, 교육방법을 살펴본 후, 영 적 안내자 및 멘토로서의 부모의 역할의 중요성에 대해 주의를 집중하였다. 또한 기본 원 리의 토대 위에서 세계화 시대의 기독교가정교육의 실제를 위한 구체적인 예와 팁들을 제 시함으로써 연구를 마무리하였다. 결론적으로 이 연구는 세계화시대를 위한 기독교교육의 근본 방향은 기독교적 정체성 과 함께 시대의 변화에 대한 개방성을 함께 열어놓음으로써 구심력과 원심력을 함께 추구 하고 그 내연과 외연을 함께 심화, 확장시켜나갈 것을 촉구하였다.
