Students attending at the Center for Gifted Education, Changwon National University have been tested twice with an interval of 9 months using a self-directed search career test developed by Holland and translated in Korean by An et. al. to understand their current career related abilities and interests. Most of the gifted students (approximately 66%) were identified as I-type(Investigative), which usually have more interests in surroundings, especially scientific matters, as well as better abilities in many aspects including science and math than normal students. Furthermore, average T score of the gifted students as a whole were not changed much in time interval. However, changes in T score of individual student have been identified, which suggest that the career guidance should be executed by individually, especially for those who have a significant changes in T scores to establish their career identities.

과학영재교육원에 재학 중인 과학영재의 전반적인 진로 특성을 파악하고 진로지도를 위해 입 학 후와 수료 전에 각각 Holland 진로탐색검사를 2차례 실시하였다. 2차례 검사를 통해 과학영재교육 원생의 진로적성은 탐구형(I)이 약 66%를 차지하고 있으며, 이는 자연과학 및 공학 등을 포함한 광범 위의 이학 계열로 진학 및 직업 선택의 가능성과 적응 가능성이 높을 것으로 판단된다. 또한 2차례의 검사를 통해 집단의 진로적성 유형과 진로적성 T 점수의 변화가 거의 없는 것으로 파악되었으나, 개 인별로는 그 변화의 폭이 큰 것으로 파악되어, 진로지도는 집단보다는 개인별로 실시하는 것이 효과 적인 것으로 판단된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 과학영재교육원생들의 경우 광범위의 이학 계열로 진로 지도를 하는 것은 의미있는 것으로 판단되었다.
