The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the biological curriculum of middle school by education centers for the gifted in science affiliated to six universities. The specialized gifted education program was conducted depending on six universities, and the subject in biological area was diversed. Common subjects of biology in curriculum of gifted centers were the continuity of life including reproduction, embryology, genetics, evolution and origin of life, and the metabolism including organic synthesis, digestion, circulation, respiration and urine system. The continuity of life and the biological characters area were educated in many gifted center however, the homeostasis subject of life was not. Therefore, a lot of education contents of the programs were focused on science, but the special programs such as human education, characteristics of scientists, and programs for patents were insufficient. In the most of gifted centers, there were not various on teaching-learning methods in relation with the gifted education in science.

6개 대학부설 과학영재교육원 중등과정의 생물분야를 비교·분석하였다. 영재교육원에 따라 특수한 영재교육 프로그램을 운영하고 있었으며 생물분야의 주제는 다양하였다. 영재원에서 다루고 있는 공통 주제는 생식, 발생, 유전, 진화, 그리고 생명의 기원을 포함하는 생명의 연속성 분야와, 유 기물합성, 소화, 순환, 호흡, 그리고 배설계를 포함하는 물질대사 분야이었다. 주로 과학 분야에 다양 한 교육주제가 집중되어 있었으며, 인성교육, 과학자의 특징, 학부모 교육과 같은 특수 프로그램은 많지 않았다. 대부분의 영재원에서 시행하고 있는 영재교육과 관련된 교수-학습 방법은 유사한 것으 로 나타났다.
