- This study attempted to compare and evaluate the antimicrobial effects of Bergamot, Chamomile Roman, Lavender, Manuka, and Tea Tree Essential Oil on the 4 types of acne strains (S. aureus, P. acnes, P. aeruginosa, and P. ovale). The results are shown below. Bergamot, Chamomile Roman, Lavender, Manuka, and Tea Tree Essential Oil showed excellent antimicrobial activities in comparison with a control group treated with 95% of ethanol. Manuka Essential Oil among the essential oils was excellent in antimicrobial effects on the 4 types of acne strains (S. aureus, P. acnes, P. aeruginosa, and P. ovale). Manuka Essential Oil among the essential oils showed the most effective antimicrobial effect on P. acnes. Based on the results, it is expected that Bergamot, Chamomile Roman, Lavender, Manuka, and Tea Tree Essential Oil apply to the treatment for acne as well as acne prevention very effectively, suggesting that these natural antimicrobial agents help healing acne.
