The purpose of this paper is to argue the lyricality of the early short-stories of the author Hwang Sun-won, focusing his first book of the short-stories . The author Hwang Sun-won had apeared as a poet at first, but he wrote the short-stories. As a poet he was influenced by the modernistic tendencies. So in his first book of the short-stories this tendencies apeared. And in his first book of the short-stories we classified two categories by the setting in arguing the lyricality of his works: the urban short-stories, and the rural short-stories. In the urban short-stories Hwang Sun-won presented the urban lyricality and described the inner consciousness of the young men. And the rural short-stories Hwang Sun-won presented the rural lyricality and reported the romantic and symbolic aspcts of the peasntry's poor lives.
