The purpose of this essay is to propose that congregational studies could provide a perspective for congregation's family ministry's application in and harmonious ministries for the congregation. Many church leaders and congregations have realized the problem in and needs of families in congregation and got more interested in family ministry for the congregation. At the same time, however, they have realized the uneasiness to launch family ministry. This essay points out the lack of concerns on the actual practice of family ministry in congregation and potential problems in the process of family ministry, and then, suggests that congregation need to understand the definition of family ministry that set the boundary and scope of family ministry. More concretely, it introduces congregational studies and suggests the importance of understanding ministry philosophy and leadership, existing elements of family ministry, and resources for family ministry through the perspective of congregational studies. In conclusion, the essay states that family ministry should be "tailored family ministry" fitting to the situation and context of congregation and transform into the congregation "embedded" with nurture and support for families in congregation.

본 논문은 교회에서 실시되는 가정사역의 효과적인 정착과 교회안의 조화로운 사역을 이루기 위해 회중학적인 관점이 도움이 됨을 제시한다. 적지 않은 교회들이 교회안의 가정들의 문제들을 인지하고 그들을 돕기 위해서 가정사역에 대한관심을 갖고 있다. 그러나 효과적이고 지속적인 가정사역을 하는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니다. 이 논문은 교회의 가정사역의 실행과 정착에 관한 관심의 결여와 예상되는 문제들을 지적한 뒤 가정사역의 준비를 위해 교회의 가정사역의 범위와 형태를 지정할 수 있는 가정사역의 이해와 조화로운 가정사역을 위한 준비가 필요함을 제안한다. 더 구체적으로, 회중학의 특성을 소개한 뒤 회중학적 연구를 통해 교회의 목회철학과 리더십, 교회의 기존의 가정사역적 요소, 그리고 교회안의 가정사역을 위한 자원과 가정들의 필요에 대한 이해가 필요함을 지적한다. 마지막으로 교회의 가정사역은 교회의 형편과 상황에 맞는 “맞춤 가정사역(tailored family ministry)"이 되어야 하고, 궁극적으로는 가정을 위하는 목회 철학과 배려가 "깊게 내재된 (embedded)" 교회가 되어야 함을 주장한다.
