Up to the present, there has still been a controversy on the date when Dusi-eonhae(Korean Translation of Du Fu’s Poetry) was completed, though its value is highly appreciated as an important source for historical research in Korean linguistics or translated Korean literature. In this study, the completion date of Dusi-eonhae is rediscussed, based on some newly-discovered facts. These facts were elicited by examining into the old application documents for the higher civil service examination, which were later reused as printing paper for the first printed edition of Dusi-eonhae book X owned by the Jangseogak Library of the Academy of Korean Studies. A precise examination of the documents has revealed that the book was not possibly printed before the winter of 1482, contradictory to the dominant belief that it was published in 1481. The research process applied in this study is also introduced as a methodology that has the potential to contribute to refining diachronic research on the Korean language. Moreover, the significance of the old application documents is noted in terms of historical sources for paleography or historical research on the higher civil service examination system in medieval Korea, for paleography from the 15th century scarcely remains.

주지하는 바와 같이 『杜詩諺解』는 韓國語史 및 韓國飜譯文學史 연구 분야에 있어 일찍부터 큰 자료적 가치를 인정받아 왔다. 그럼에도 불구하고 『杜詩諺解』의 성립, 간행 연대에 대해서는 현재에 이르기까지 견해의 일치를 보았다고 하기는 어려운 상황이다. 본고에서는 韓國學中央硏究院 藏書閣 소장 『杜詩諺解』初刊本 권10 에 남겨진 紙背文書, 즉 科擧의 錄名 관련 문서의 내용을 검토함으로써, 그것이 인출된 시점이 아무리 빨라도 1482년 겨울 이후라는 사실을 밝혔다. 이에 따라 『杜詩諺解』의 언해 및 편찬 작업이 1481년 내에 완료되었다는 기존의 견해는 재고될 가능성이 여전히 열려 있음을 확인하였다. 本稿에 도입된 방법론은 한국어사 연구의 정밀화라는 점에 있어 기여하는 바 있으리라 생각된다. 뿐만 아니라 본고에서 소개한 紙背文書는 현재 보기 드문 壬辰亂 이전에 작성된 것이니 만큼, 古文書學 내지는 韓國 科擧制度史 등의 연구 분야에서도 미지의 史料로서의 가치를 지닐 것으로 기대된다.
