The variety of effort to prevent recidivism of criminals promote adaptation ability of released prisoner to society has been resulted in advanced probation system, a treatment in the society. The probation system is a policy of criminal justice system ensuring a humane life for criminals for the purpose to protect society against crimes and prevention of recidivism of offenders. I intend to look up the problems and present improvement measures of current probation system herein. First, there's need to strengthen the role of Prabation Jury via compliment of personnel power and organization because that those essential components of the current jury board are weak. Second, widespread extension of the probation offices is necessary. because the probation office should be located as near as possible to the subject of the probation as to supervise the subject efficiently. recruitment of the probation is also needed due to increase of workload. Third, we need to appoint professionals and hand-in staffs from community as the cooperation of the crime prevention volunteer committee of community is indispensible. Forth, the missing criminal should be in strict sanction. Third, crime prevention volunteer committee of community cooperation is essential, professional and business community of residents appointed. Fourth, in bulmyeongja for clear sanctions should be taken.

범죄인들의 재범을 예방하고 사회에 잘 적응하게 하기 위한 다양한 노력의 결과 사회 내 처우인 보호관찰제도의 발달로 이어지게 되었다. 보호관찰제도는 사회보호와 범죄인의 재범 예방을 목적으로 범죄인에게 인간다운 삶을 보장해 주기 위한 교정복지적 관점에서의 형사ㆍ사법적 정책이다. 보호관찰제도의 문제점과 개선방안을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 보호관찰의 실시 및 취소에 있어 핵심적인 역할을 하는 보호관찰 심사위원회의 인력과 조직이 약하므로 인력과 조직의 보완을 통해 그 역할을 강화할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 보호관창 대상자를 지도ㆍ감독하기 위해서는 보호관찰소가 보호관찰 대상자의 주거지와 최대한 가까운 곳에 위치하여야하므로 보호관찰소의 대폭 증설이 필요하다. 또한 보호관찰관의 업무증가로 인해 인원 확충이 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 지역사회의 범죄예방 자원봉사위원의 협조는 필수적이므로 전문적이고 실무적인 지역사회 주민의 위촉이 필요하다. 넷째, 소재 불명자에 대해서는 명확한 제재조치를 취해야 한다.
