The purpose of this study was to make a contribution to the activation of local culture by developing cultural contents based on the life of Naongwangsa. One of the most outstanding figures whose home was Yeongdeok, Naongwangsa gives lots of ideas with which to develop cultural contents. The cultural contents based on his life will not only pay tribute to Yeongdeok, but retrace the achievements of Naongwangsa, one of Korea's greatest masters. The contents can be put to various uses including establishing a local brand for Yeongdeok and providing materials for a culture and tourism festival in combination with other diverse cultural contents. The main focus of the cultural contents of Naongwangsa is to turn the cultural archetypes related to him into digital contents. It's also important to develop contents based on the figures related to him, his clothes, the ceremony to appoint him as the Royal preceptor, Moogo(舞鼓), and his writings. Once they are developed, the digital contents of Naongwangsa can play a central role in Yeongdeok's culture and tourism festivals. A culture and tourism belt around the Jangyuk Temple will play a critical role in the cultural growth of Yeongdeok. The major events of Naongwangsa Cultural Tourism Festival will be experiential sightseeing and temple stay, which will help the audience inherit his thoughts and spirit and recreate Yeongdeok's cultural heritage. This study will help to develop new models of Buddhist cultural contents making a contribution to the local culture.

본 논문은 나옹왕사의 생애를 소재로 문화콘텐츠를 개발하여 지역문화 활성화에 기여하고자 하였다. 영덕을 대표하는 인물인 나옹왕사를 소재로 하는 문화콘텐츠 개발은 영덕군 지역에만 국한된 것이 아닌, 우리 민족의 위대한 스승이 남긴 발 자취를 오늘날에 되살리는 일이다. 이를 바탕으로 영덕 지역의 브랜드를 구축하고, 다양한 문화콘텐츠와 연계하여 문화관광축제로 그 결과를 외 화시킬 것을 제안한다. 나옹왕사 문화콘텐츠의 주요내용은 나옹스님과 관련된 문화원형을 디 지털콘텐츠화 하는 것이다. 또한 나옹스님과 관련된 인물, 나옹왕사 복 식, 나옹스님의 왕사 책봉의식, 무고, 나옹스님의 저술 등을 콘텐츠로 개 발하는 것이다. 나옹왕사의 디지털콘텐츠는 영덕의 문화관광축제의 핵심으로 활용될 수 있다. 또한 장육사를 중심으로 문화관광 벨트를 구축하여 영덕군의 문화발전의 핵심적 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. 나옹왕사 문화관광축제는 나옹왕사의 사상과 정신을 오늘날에 계승하고 영덕의 문화유산으로 재창 조하는 체험관광과 템플스테이가 핵심이 될 것이다. 본 논문를 통해 불교문화콘텐츠가 지역문화 발전에 기여할 수 있는 새 로운 전형을 마련하는데 이바지하고자 한다.
