Nowadays, the interest in supernatural phenomenon is gradually rising in Japan. What means these phenomena? To consider the meaning of this trend, I try to pick up the Ideal history of Japanese Buddhism as a theme. How did the Japanese Buddhism receive Jodo faith? And how did Jodo faith change itself? The aim of this paper is to clarify these problems. To solve the problems means to understand the meaning of the trend of the supernatural phenomenon in Today’s Japan. In Chapter 2, I discussed about some precedent studies and its problems. In the next chapter, I explained a generation of the Jodo faith in the history of Buddhism. After Jodo faith was handed down to Japan, it rapidly spread in the Heian era in particular. I explained the process in Chapter 4. In Chapter 5, I focus on the Mappo-siso - the belief in the third and last stage of Buddhism. Because the belief influences considerably on Jodo faith in Heian era. There is the first change of Jodo faith in here. I take a Buddhist Scripture Ojoyoshu in the following chapter. With this book, value of the world is completely denied. This book is a monumental book that denies the value of this world and showed a method to go to the next world. In Chapter 7, I treat Jodo faith in the Kamakura era that is the second change of the Jodo faith.
