Design education in domestic high schools is currently being included as part of the art curriculum. In particular, although the social demand for design education is gradually increasing with the goal of improving creativity, there are lots of problems with the contents and the construction of the education. This basic research aims to develop design subjects for a college liberal arts curriculum. Taken into theoretical consideration was the fact that the objectives and values of art education change between high school and college, and design illustrations in a total of five art textbooks for the seventh curricular revision in 2009 were analyzed. The results showed that they had too many contents despite insufficient hours and that there was inconsistency in determining the degree of difficulty and area selection to associate a learning objective for each unit with instructional illustration. In particular, they had a little difference in aim from those currently suggested as central to domestic art education: historical and cultural values, use of personal and social functions, and the textual basis. Therefore, it is necessary to revise the contents of curricula and educational goals in consideration of this educational reality and conduct constant research and development in pursuit of flexible association between primary and secondary education.

현행 국내 고등학교에서의 디자인교육은 미술과 교육과정에 포함되어 진행되고 있다. 특히 창의성 함양이라는 목표에 따라 디자인 교육에 대한 사회적 요구가 점차 증대하고 있음에도, 그 중요성에 비하여 교육의 내용과 구성에 있어서 다양한 문제점이 제기되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 대학에서의 일반 교양과정으로서의 디자인 교과목 개발을 위한 기초 연구이며, 이를 위하여 고등학교 디자인 교육의 교과 과정 및 내용 분석을 통하여 교육의 연계를 도모하고자 한다. 이에 따라 고등학교에서의 교육과정 변화에 의해 미술 교육의 목표와 가치가 어떻게 적용되고 있는지 이론적으로 고찰하고, 2009년 제7차 개정 미술 검정 교과서 총 5종에서 제시되고 있는 디자인영역의 그림예시자료를 중심으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 부족한 이수 단위에 비하여 상대적으로 내용이 방대하고, 단원별 학습 목표와 수업 예시의 연계에 있어서 난이도 및 영역별 선정이 일정하지 않은 측면이 있었다. 특히, 현재 국내 미술 교육의 중점방향으로 제시하고 있는 역사적·문화적 가치, 개인적·사회적 기능의 활용, 교과적 기초라는 세 가지 방향과도 다소 거리가 멀다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 교육 현실을 감안한 교과과정 및 교육 목표와 내용의 수정이 요구되며, 초·중·고등 교육이 서로 유연하게 연계될 수 있도록 지속적인 연구 개발이 이루어져야 할 것이다.
