The purpose of this study was to provide foundational information about informal technology education program by analyzing perceptions and educational needs of technology teachers. This study was carried out by survey. 280 sheets were sent to technology teachers and 189 of them were collected. The results of this study were as follows. First, most of the technology teachers were not satisfied with present technology education. But, they perceived that technology education motivates students to be interested in engineering and technology. Second, survey results showed that technology teachers had a low level of satisfaction about present informal technology education. And they perceived that technology subject have less informal education program than other subjects do. Thus, they answered that informal technology education program in technology subject is very necessary. Third, technology teachers have a perception that informal technology education programs can solve some restrictions of current technology educations and various informal technology education programs should be developed. Also, they perceived the high levels of needs for various teacher-training-programs related to 'technology in living' and 'advanced engineering technologies'. Fourth, technology teachers perceived that teacher, engineer, researcher and professor should be utilized for informal technology education programs. Also, when conducting informal technology education programs, informal technology education institutes should develop and operate some kind of informal programs including camps and subjects related to 'technology in living' and 'advanced engineering technologies'. At the end, they perceived that informal technology education program will motivate students to be interested in the technology subject and science and engineering careers.

이 연구는 비형식 기술교육 프로그램에 대한 기술교사들의 인식과 교육요구도를 분 석하여 형식 기술교육과 비형식 기술교육의 체계적인 연계방향과 비형식 기술교육 프 로그램의 효과적인 개발 및 운영을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 수행되었다. 개발된 설문지는 권역별 기술교사들(280명)을 대상으로 실시하여 회수된 189부를 분석하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 대부분의 기술교사들은 현재의 기술교육에 만족하지 못하고 있었다. 하지만 기 술교육이 공학과 기술에 대한 흥미를 부여하고 있다고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 기술교사들은 현재의 비형식 기술교육 프로그램에 대해 낮은 만족도를 갖고 있었다. 타 교과에 비해 비형식 교육 프로그램이 적고, 비형식 기술교육 프로그램이 필 요하다고 응답하였다. 셋째, 비형식 기술교육 프로그램을 통해 학교 기술교육의 제한점을 해결할 수 있고, 다양한 교육 프로그램의 개발 및 운영과 기술교사 연수가 필요하다고 인식하고 있었 다. 비형식 기술교육 기관의 기술교사 연수 주제로는 ‘생활 속의 기술’과 ‘최신 공학 기술’이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 넷째, 기술교사들은 비형식 기술교육 프로그램 운영 시 교사, 산업체 기술자, 연구원, 교수들의 인사들을 활용할 필요가 있다고 응답하였다. 그리고 8~16시간의 체험이나 캠 프 유형의 프로그램과 ‘생활 속 기술’, ‘최신 공학 기술’ 관련 주제의 비형식 기술교육 프로그램 개발과 운영이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 이러한 비형식 기술교육 프로그 램은 학생들에게 기술교과나 이공계 진로에 대해 흥미를 줄 것으로 인식하고 있었다.
