본 연구는 교사전문성 연구에서 수업을 중심으로 논의되었던 기존의 교사 전문성 논의에서 벗어나 교사가 스스로 교육과정을 개발 하고 구현할 수 있는 교육과정 전문성을 형성 할 수 있어야 함을 제안하고 있다. 국가 수준에서 제안되는 내용중심 교육과정에 따라 사회과 수업과 학습이 내용 그 자체의 기억과 이해가 아니라 수업을 실천하는 개개의 교사들이 자신만의 레시피로 사회과 수업을 만들어 갈 수 있어야 한다. 교육과정 전문성 실천을 위한 연구 교사의 교육과정 실천 사례를 통해 교육과정에서 제시된 성취기준인 자유로운 경제활동과 경쟁이 우리의 경제 성장과 발전에 기여하였음은 분명 하지만 이러한 관점을 지나치게 강조되다 보면 실제 경제 활동의 과정에서 나타나는 다양한 문제상황들을 간과할 가능성이 크다 할 수 있다. 우리 경제의 양적 성장만이 경제 성장의 모습을 알아 볼 수 있는 모든 것이 아님에도 불구하고 일상 경제 수업에서는 어려운 경제개념과 용어 중심의 양적 지표를 교수하는 경우가 많다. 그러나 오히려 복잡하고 어렵다는 이유로 빠져 버린 경제 내용들이 학생들의 행복한 삶을 이끄는 수업 활동을 가능하게 만드는 경우가 많다. 경제 교육을 통해 얼마나 많은 것들을 얻게 되는가?가 중점이 되는 것이 아니라 경제 활동을 통해 얼마나 행복하게 살 것인가?를 경제교육의 방향으로 설정하는 것이 필요하다. 올바른 경제에 관한 인식과 관점을 공유하기 위해 교사용 지도서와 교과서에서 제시된 단원의 지도계획을 (교사가) 재구성 하는 과정을 추적 연구하여 초등학교 교사에게 있어 교육과정 실천의 전문성이 무엇인지 살펴 보고자 한다.
