The aim of this study was to analyze the connection of the integrated curriculum in the 2009 revised national curriculum and to find the improvements on the integrated curriculum design focused on the ‘Pleasant Life’ of 1st and 2nd Grades. The result of this study is like these. The integrated curriculum in the 2009 revised national curriculum tried to unify the integrated subjects through the theme-centered integrated approach. But this approach made serious limitations in the light of the connection of the curriculum: First, there were no common aims nor common principles of the evaluation between the integrated subjects. Second, the educational contents were diminished and their levels were declined. According to this analysis, this study suggested three possible improvements: the extension of the integration among the subjects, the return to the individual subjects and the partial amendment of the current ways. This study also proposed that we should consider the needs and validities of integrated subjects, the diversity of the integrated approaches, and the new recognition of the teachers' role as main planners and practical minds.

본 연구는 즐거운 생활을 중심으로 2009 개정 통합 교육과정과 관련하여 첫째, 통합 방식의 특징을 검토하고, 둘째, 누리과정 및 3∼4학년 관련 교과와의 연계성을 계속성, 계열성, 통합성의 측면에서 분석하여 통합 교육과정의 개선 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 2009 개정 통합 교육과정은 공통 주제 설정을 통하여 통합 교과 간 통합을 시도하였으나, 공통 주제와 관련된 교육목표 및 교육평가가 마련되지 않았다. 또한 각 통합 교과에서 교육 내용이 소홀히 다루어지고 그 수준이 낮아짐에 따라 통합 교과 간의 정체성이 불분명해지고, 유치원 및 초등학교 3∼6학년과의 계속성과 계열성의 문제가 심화되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 통합 교과 교육과정의 가능한 개선 방향을 탈학문적 접근으로 계속 접근해 가느냐 아니면 분과된 교과로 회귀하느냐 또는 현재와 같은 통합 방식을 유지하되 문제점을 해결해나가는 일부 수정의 방안으로 나가느냐의 3가지로 제시하였으며, 개선 방향을 선택하기 위해서는 통합의 필요성과 타당성 및 통합 방식의 다양화 등을 고려해야 한다는 점을 제안하였다.
