The recent growing influence of ethno, cultural-nationalism political group in the Dutch society, famous for its strong multicultural tradition was partly attributed by a populist politician, Geert Wilders. His assertion of reviving the cultural identity and christian norm of the country accompanying ruthless criticisms towards the Islamic world brought Geert's party, Partij voor Vrijheid(Party for Freedom) 15.5% of vote in the 2010 elections, 24 seats in congress and the opportunity to become one of three pillars of Dutch coalition. Geert Wilders is now following the tradition of populism and the footsteps after Janmaat of 1980s and Pim Fortuyn of 2002, but with stronger influence than of two politicians. This consolidation of neo-nationalist tendency expected to be fatal in the respect of protecting national interests of Netherlands, which has high level of dependence on exports. These recent ideas of justifying xenophobia, stricter migration policy and growing resistance to the European integration inside the country can to be very inconducive to the national interests and easing international tensions, and will only contribute to isolating the Dutch populations from international arena. Despite the such prospects, the popularity of Geert Wilders looks like to last for a few more years. His strong opposing stands on the matter of further financial assistance towards southern European countries, austerity package and European Union's intervention to the national affairs caused a downfall of the present Cabinet and proved his influence inside the contemporary Dutch politics. This paper will deal with Geert Wilders' impacts on the transformation of Dutch political spectrum by looking over the political path and assertions of Geert Wilders. Further study on invariable factor Geert Wilders and Partij voor Vrijheid is the essential step towards understanding contemporary Dutch politics.

다문화주의 전통이 강한 네덜란드사회에 최근 나타나고 있는 인종, 문화민족주의정치세력의 확대는 상당 부분 Geert Wilders라는 대중영합주의 정치인에 따른 것으로 보인다. 이슬람권에 대한 거침없는 공격을 통해 - 다문화주의를 가장 중요한 가치로 하고 있는 - 네덜란드사회의 문화정체성과 기독교적 규범과 가치를 회복해야한다는 그의 주장은 2010년 선거에서 15.5%라는 높은 득표율로 이어졌고 그의 정당인 자유당(PVV)은 24석을 획득하여 연립정권의 한 축이 되었다. Wilders는 1980년대의 Janmaat, 그리고 2002년의 Pim Fortuyn과 같은 대중영합주의정치인의 계보를 잇고 있으며, 일상정치에 있어서의 영향력은 상기 두 정치인보다 더 크다. 이 같은 신민족주의적 성향의 강화는 대외의존도가 매우 높은 네덜란드의 이익보호라는 측면에서 본다면 매우 부정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상된다. 외국인에 대한 혐오정서 확산, 이주정책 강화, 유럽통합반대 등과 같은 주장들은 결국 네덜란드를 국제사회에서 고립시킬 가능성이 높고, 이는 궁극적으로 네덜란드국익 뿐 아니라 국제사회에서의 긴장을 완화하는데 도움이 되지 않을 것으로 보인다. 이 같은 전망에도 불구하고 대중영합주의정치인 Geert Wilders에 대한 인기는 당분간 지속될 것으로 보인다. 최근 유럽재정위기사태를 맞아 남유럽에 대한 추가 지원 거부, 긴축재정 반대, 국내정책에 개입하는 유럽연합 반대 등과 같은 정치적 입장 때문에 현 Rutte 내각이 방향을 못 잡고 붕괴될 정도로 그의 정치적 영향력은 매우 크다. 이 논문에서는 Wilders의 정치적 역정과 그의 주장들을 살펴봄으로서 네덜란드정치 스펙트럼변화에 그가 미친 영향과 결과들을 살펴볼 것이다. 현대 네덜란드정치 이해에 있어 확고한 정치적 상수인 Geert Wilders와 자유당에 대한 후속 연구는 필수적 과제로 보인다.
