This essay is to suggest the argumental extension of peace and war. And is historically described, especially before and After Thomas More. Peace is the most aspired theme of humankind, and peace is the absence of structural and cultural violence. But the description of peace is theological and reasonable start. So in this article, I shall try to examine the argumental extension on the peace and war. As social being, spectrum of political life of humankind is peace and war. This, life of a man act, war for peace, or peace for war. Peace and war is not the brief conception for complexity of the nature and process variable of its. The extension of environment in the argue of peace and war is necessary historical approach and another contents. In this essay, another contests means Utopia, peace and war of Thomas More. Thomas More have means of division of the period. Because the conception of peace and war, Utopia of Thomas More have, especially, another orientation in argue of peace and war. Before Thomas More, in argue of peace and war, Platon describes peace as the establishment of ideal police. In here, peace means political peace. In Aristoteles, Peace have virtue and is understanding conception in the dimension of police. The argument peace and war in Rome period have import a person, Marcus Tullius Cicero. He describe war as the correction of illogical change. So, the just war in Cicero Means the correction of illogical occupation, and S.A. Augustinus suggested a christianed just war. Peace for Augustinus can be available in the Heaven. He, too, have the conception of just war, in illogical case. For Thomas Aquinas, the conception of war have problem of resistance right. So, the conception of peace starts the concordia. Just war theory is probably the most influential perspective on the ethics of war and peace. In Thomas More, the proper characteristics of Utopia is elucidated by comparing to similar constructs such as paradise, peace, war. And the conception of war is opposited reason and nature conception of so, war is a means of peace and justice.

전쟁과 평화에 대한 고전적 논의와 연구는 제한적인 모습을 보여 왔다. 그래서 전쟁과 평화를 위한 많은 담론은 인간 삶의 현실적인, 현상학적 영역에 그 기저를 두고 전개되고 있다. 본 논문은 전쟁과 평화에 대한 논의의 외연을 확장하는데 일차적 관심을 두고, 역사적 고찰에서 일단 접근하고 있다. 그리고 본 논문에서 논의의 축은 토마스 모어, 이전과 이후로 구분한다. 왜냐하면 토마스 이전과 이후의 평화와 전쟁에 대한 논의와 이후의 논의, 특히 토마스 모어의 전쟁과 평화 논의는 당시 시대적 상황에 대한 이상향 제시에서 논의되지만 그 인문학적 혹은 사회과학적 상상력은 소홀히 되지 않아야 할 지적 자산의 성격을 지니고 있기 때문이다. 그리고 그 이전의 연구와는 다른 궤를 가지고 있기 때문이다. 전쟁과 평화에 대한 고전적 논의는 자연과 이성 그리고, 신학적 차원에서 접근되고 있다. 플라톤, 아리스토텔레스, 아우구스티누스, 토마스 아퀴나스가 여기에 해당되고, 토마스 모어는 그의 저서 ‘유토피아’에서 전쟁과 평화에 대한 상상력에서 그 개념들이 규정된다. 바로 그러한 논의 자체에서 전쟁과 평화에 대한 외연은 확대의 개연성을 가질 수 있을 것이다.
