This study aims to investigate a relation between communication with teachers perceived by elementary school students, and school group cohesiveness and adjustment to school life. To achieve this objective, following research problems were set. First, how do elementary school students perceive teachers'communication? Second, is there any relation between teachers' communication perceived by elementary school students and classroom group cohesiveness? Third, is there any relation between communication with teachers perceived by elementary school students and adjustment to school life? For settling these research problems, a survey was conducted targeting 482 elementary school students in the fifth and sixth grades all over the country. The findings of this research are as follows. First, when analyzing a correlation between teachers' communication perceived by elementary school students and classroom group cohesiveness, sub-domains of communication were positively related with sub-domains of classroom group cohesiveness and the entire domains. Second, there was a positive correlation between sub-domains of teachers' communication, and sub-domains of adjustment to school life and the entire domains. Based on these research results and discussions, the final conclusions were extracted as below. First, it shows elementary school students' own distinctive characteristics. In other words, there is a high correlation between communication with teachers and classroom group cohesiveness in elementary school, as they spend more time with teachers in school than seniors. Second, it describes that teachers need to consider students during communication so they adjust to school well.

학교는 인간이 태어나 가족 다음으로 접하게 되는 또 하나의 사회이다. 특히 초등학생들 은 학급에서 학교생활의 대부분을 보내고 특히 담임교사와 거의 모든 활동을 함께 하는데 이는 초등학교에서의 담임교사와 학생의 의사소통은 매우 중요하다는 것을 의미한다. 그러 나 한 학급당 학생 수가 많고, 업무 과중으로 학생들과 활발한 의사소통이 어려운 현실에서 높은 학급집단응집성과 학교생활 적응을 기대하기는 쉽지 않다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학 생이 담임교사의 의사소통을 어떻게 지각하는가에 관심을 가졌고, 그것이 학급의 집단응집 성 및 학교생활 적응과 어떤 관계를 맺고 있는지를 밝히는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구의 대상 은 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생 482명으로 하였다. 설문은 담임교사의 의사소통 지각, 학급집단 응집성, 학교생활 적응 3가지를 검사하였으며, 검사의 결과는 다음과 같다. 초등학생이 지각 한 담임교사의 의사소통 중 일관성, 수용성, 적시성, 타당성이 학급집단응집성에 가장 큰 영 향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 이 중 일관성, 적시성, 타당성은 학생의 학교생활 적응에도 영향을 주었다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 담임교사는 학생이 학급집단응집성을 갖고 학교생 활에 적응을 잘하도록 돕기 위해서 학생들과의 의사소통을 보다 수용적으로 받아들이고, 타 당한 내용을 보다 효과적으로 의사소통하기 위한 노력이 필요함을 의미한다.
