The purpose of this study is to recognize the importance of lower grade students’ vocabulary learning and to discuss the plan for reference of teaching.
Vocabulary can be defined as the base of korean language such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. But there isn’t an emphasis at teaching vocabulary in elementary schools. In regards to reading, students’ should be know the vocabulary from the texts. In regards to writing, they should make written expressions by using the key words. In regards to listening, they should listen carefully to what someone says. In regards to speaking, they should enunciate the words correctly. And they should have a positive attitude about the Korean language on the literature and grammar part.
Teachers are used to teaching by instructor-led methods but they should let the students study themselves on the grammar subjects some of the time. In addition, vocabulary should be assessed to create an easy concept of vocabulary for the students to understand. We should be more systematic in teaching vocabulary starting from lower grades.

이 연구의 목적은 저학년 어휘 교육의 중요성을 인식하여 현장 지도에 참고할 수 있는 방안에 대하여 논의하는 데 있다.
읽기에서는 새로운 어휘를 접할 수 있도록 하고, 쓰기에서는 중심 낱말을 생각하며 글을 완성할 수 있도록 하고, 듣기에서는 정확하게 들을 수 있도록 하고, 말하기에서는 명확하게 말할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 그리고 문법과 문학에서는 바른 태도를 형성하는 데 중점을 둘 수 있다.
또한, 저학년의 특성을 고려하여 설명식 지도를 배제하지 않고 사용할 수 있으며 이때 부분적으로 탐구를 경험할 수 있도록 지도한다. 또한 어휘의 개념을 좀 더 실제적으로 이해할 수 있도록 학습자와 교수자 변인을 고려하여 사용 상황에서 어휘를 평가할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 이처럼 저학년에서부터 어휘 지도가 체계적으로 이루어져야 한다.
