- The main purpose of the present study goes on the comparative analysis with the focus on pragmatic strengthening and expressivity with relation to the use of the subject marker -ka. To explore this, the present paper shows that -ka which is distributionally restricted extends to the position of the topic marker -un and its replacement can be understood as part of the extended pragmatic functions, i.e. epistemic meaning. Then, our task is to show that the epistemic meaning arises among other variable surroundings in terms of the relative effectiveness in the speaker's subjective involvement by use of -ka
