- The purpose of this paper is to study and analyze deixis in general. Deixis is the grammatical relation in utterance which is to be marked between discourse act and its feature of speech. In other words, speakers use some objects, events and the situations at the discourse world. The attention of hearer is attracted by them. Included in deixis are person, place, time, discourse and social status, etc. All of them are to be considered in every situation in the course of conversation between the speaker and the hearer. To correct meaning interpretation of reference expression, for example, we have to consider the time and place of discourse, personal relations and the cognitive abilities of speaker and hearer in conversation. The same deixis may appear as various forms by special usages of each language. We know that the strategies of interpretation in these reference expressions can be very different in terms of the study of deixis.
