The study aims to suggest the improvement of college of educations’ curriculum based on analyzing real curriculum experienced by students of college of educations. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect opinions regarding the curriculum and 462 4th grade students from 20 college of educations in the nation. Among them, 18 students from 2 college of educations participated in the in-depth interviews. As a result of survey and in-depth interviews, the following curriculum improvements for college of educations were suggested. First, coll should prepare the unique curriculum compared with those of other universities. Second, teaching staffs in college of educations should develop the skill to teach students as future teachers. Third, college of educations should give students empirical experience as well as theoretical experience about schools. Fourth, in order students to experience school climates and prepare the teacher employment exam, college of educations give students the expedience of early student teaching in the second year courses of college of educations.

본 연구는 현재 사범대학 학생들이 실제로 경험하는 교육과정의 실태를 토대로 문제점을 파악하고 개선 방안을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 전국 20개 사범대학 4학년 학생(462명)을 대상으로 설문조사를, 이 가운데 2개교 학생(18명)을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 사범대학 학생들은 선행연구들에서 제시하고 있는 사범대학 교육과정의 문제점인 사범대학으로서의 특별한 교육과정의 부재, 교과교육학 교수진의 부족, 교육과정과 단위학교 교육과정 연계 등 현장 연계성 부족, 그리고 교육실습의 운영 부실 등을 경험하고 있었다. 연구 결과를 토대로 사범대학 교육과정의 개선 방안을 제안하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중등학교 교육과정과 연계된 심화교육이자 보편적 진리로서 ‘사범대학다운 교과내용학’을 운영할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 중등학교 상황을 충분히 반영한 수업을 진행하면서 지속적으로 교직에 대한 발전적 미래를 학생들에게 제공하는 ‘사범대학다운 교수 자질’을 지속적으로 개발할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 교과교육학에 대한 이론적 지식과 함께 실제 현장 경험을 제공함으로써 사범대학 학생들이 실제 실행 능력을 갖출 수 있도록 교육과정을 운영할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 사범대생들에게 교직적성을 확인하고 보다 충실한 임용고사 준비 기회를 제공한다는 점에서 4학년 이전 2학년 정도에 ‘조기 약식실습’을 제공할 필요가 있다.
