This study was motivated by the awareness that career guidance of social studies should be achieved in terms of integrated perspective, pointing out the issues of separative view between teaching social studies and career-related activities. This study figures out a plan that can connect teaching social studies at middle school and career-related activities through making use of creative experience activities. More specifically, career-related activities that have to do with topics about law from each unit were found. Furthermore, focusing on career-related activities, a proposal was made to be able to connect and incorporate creative experience activities effectively. In order to flourish career education in social studies at secondary school more actively, it is necessary that increased interest from teachers in career education, awareness of integrative teaching method, awareness that ultimate goal of creative experience activities was career-related activities, improved curriculum and textbooks, developing curriculum and integrated career education activities, and establishing system on general career information online. Finally, future study should cover operating subject class system related with career education of social studies, developing curriculum and textbook, activity materials, operation model of various creative experience activity related with career activities, verifying educational effectiveness, establishing collaborative network with competent authorities and general career information system.

본 연구는 사회과 교과지도와 진로활동 간의 분리적 시각의 문제점을 지적하면서 교과와의 통합적 관점에서 사회과 진로지도가 이루어져야 한다는 인식에서 출발하였다. 이는 위기에 처해있는 사회과를 위한 새로운 모색의 일환이었다. 이러한 문제의식에 기초하여 본 연구는 창의적 체험활동을 활용하여 중등 사회과 교과지도와 진로활동을 연계시킬 수 있는 방안을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 사회교과와 진로활동과의 연계성을 검토하고, 창의적 체험활동의 성격을 토대로 사회과 교과지도와 진로활동이 연계될 수 있는 적용 사례를 살펴보았다. 구체적으로 중․고등학교 단계의 사회과 법관련 단원별 주제와 관련된 진로활동(관련 직업과 학과)을 찾고, 창의적 체험활동 영역과 연결될 수 있는 활동 내용을 찾아서 제시하였다. 특히 진로활동에 초점을 둔 창의적 체험활동을 효과적으로 연계․통합할 수 있는 방안을 찾아보았다. 향후 중등 사회과 진로교육이 보다 활성화되기 위해선 진로교육에 대한 교사들의 관심 증대와 교과 통합적 지도방식에 관한 인식, 창의적 체험활동의 궁극적인 목표가 진로활동이라는 인식, 교육과정과 교과서 개선, 교과와 통합된 진로교육 활동 자료 개발, 온라인 상의 종합 진로정보 시스템 구축 등이 필요하다. 본 연구가 사회과 진로 지도와 연계된 창의적 체험활동의 운영 사례를 개괄적으로 소개하는 차원에서 머물다보니 교육적 효과성 연구까지는 이어지지 못했다. 향후 후속 연구는 사회과 진로교육과 연계된 교과교실제 운영, 사회과 교육과정이나 교과서 속의 진로 탐색과 개척 활동 자료 개발, 진로활동과 연계된 다양한 창의적 체험활동 운영 모형 개발과 교육적 효과성 검증, 유관기관과의 협력적인 네트워크와 종합 직업정보 시스템 구축 등이 필요하다.
