Plato deals with what is the justice and how to reach the justice through education in The Republic. In this discussion, the dialectic is the supreme subject which is provided after the initial education of musikē and the subsequent education of various subjects. The dialectic makes students reflect what they have learned, seek the meanings, understand which mind has formed and what the knowledge is. Justice is not different from righteous life and the dialectic aims to develop the mind with understanding of what is the righteous life; the moral education pursues this mind. The moral education shows the fact that the mind is cultivated through the knowledge on the subjects and the understanding on the meaning of life.

플라톤은『국가론』에서 정의가 무엇인가를 주제로 다루며 정의로운 사람을 기르는 교육을 통하여 정의가 무엇인가를 보여주고 있다. 여기에서 변증법은 무시케를 교육내용으로 하는 초기교육과 교과 교육을 중심으로 이루어지는 후기교육을 거쳐 교육의 긴 과정을 마무리 하는 단계에서 배우는 최고수준의 교과이다. 변증법은 자신이 배운 것들을 조망하고 그것의 의미를 찾아가며 교육의 과정에서 형성된 마음이 무엇이고 지식이 무엇인가를 이해하도록 한다. 정의는 올바른 삶과 다른 것이 아니며 올바른 삶이 무엇인가에 대한 이해는 변증법이 형성하고자 하는 마음이면서 또한 도덕교육이 추구하는 마음이다. 변증법이 교육내용으로 하는 교육이론은 우리의 도덕교육이 다루는 내용과 다른 것이 아니다. 도덕교육은 우리에게 교과들이 표현하는 지식과 삶의 의미가 무엇인가에 대한 올바른 이해로 심성을 함양한다는 것을 보여주고 있다.
