When we consider it in terms of the development of tools, we can understand that the history of the human began with the stone tool and developed to the metal tool. As far as we understand that the Metal Age can be divided into three parts of pure metal tools, bronze tools, and iron tools, we can not but take the attitude that we are now faced with the third step of the Metal Age called the Iron Age. How can we name our age when we are using the electric on electonic products? What I emphasize here is that all of electricity, the wave of electromagnetism, and the nuclear power are each kind of light. In that sense we can name the days when electricity, the wave of electromagnetism, and the nuclear power are used the Age of light tools or the Light Age. How is the Global Age connected with the Light Age? The Global Age is the days when is characteristic of all the space of the earth to be one society of the human as the following that the communication system of the global scale was constructed by the internet. The appearance of the internet can be said that one phenomenon which happened as the result of man to utilize the wave of electromagnetism as the means of communication. Therefore, The ideological basement of the Global Age is on the characteristic of electromagnetism wave. The general vale man has pursued for in the Global Age is said first of all the regional unification in the earth, and the next the equality of human races, tribes, peoples, and nations in the earth, and the political, economical, and cultural equality in the world.

도구들의 발달과정을 고찰해봤을 때 인류의 역사는 석기시대에서 금속기시대로 전개되어 나왔다. 우리는 현재 일상생활 속에서 사용하고 있는 도구들을 철기제품이라 말하지 않고, 전기나 전자제품이라 말하고 있다. 그 이유는 그 제품들이 철의 특성인 견고성을 이용해 만든 것이 아니라, 전기나 전자가 지닌 유동성을 이용해 만들었기 때문이었다. 그러한 의미에서 이 시대를 철기시대라고 결코 말할 수 없다는 것이다. 그렇다면 우리는 현재 우리가 처해있는 시대를 기존의 석기시대, 금속기시대 등과 대응시켜봤을 때 어떤 시대로 이름 붙여 볼 수 있는 시대라 할 수 있을 것인가? 필자가 여기에서 논하고자 하는 것은 전기, 전자기파, 핵력 등이 모두 다 빛(光)의 일종이라고 하는 것이다. 그러한 의미에서 우리는 이전의 금속의 특성인 견고성을 이용해 생활도구를 제작해 사용해 오던 금속기시대에 대응시켜 전기, 전자기파, 핵력 등을 구성하는 광자들의 유동성을 이용해 생활 도구들을 만들어 쓰는 시대를 광기시대 (光器時代)로 명명해 볼 수 있다는 것이다. 광기시대의 후반기, 즉 앞으로의 글로벌시대는 빛이 여러 방면에 이용됨으로써 분명 새로운 형태로 전개되어 나갈 것으로 추정된다. 이를 적극 이용해감으로써 새로운 단계의 광기시대를 열어가게 될 것이다.
