The aim of this study is to inquire into the possibility of accepting the K -pop as music education in school by analyzing the characteristics of K-pop. The major contents of this study include arrangement of the meaning of K-pop and analysis of musical characteristics of K-pop. This study set 9 pieces of music ,which were made and played by Koreans and won a great popularity overseas among the music called K-pop, as its research subjects. The contents for analysis were rhythm, melody, and harmonic properties. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, K-pop is pop music for commercial purposes, but it can be a proper material enough to be applied to achieving the purpose of music education in school. Second, K-pop contains a diversity of musical concepts which music education intends to guide. Third, K-pop is a good material for explaining the current society or culture related to music of our country. In addition, this study makes three suggestions as follows: First, it's imperative for us to look for a plan to narrow the space from the music in the midst of life so that music education can be closely connected with life. Second, it's necessary for us to proceed with the case study so that K-pop can be practically used. Third, this research hopes that there will be developed a plan for K-pop to be used in subject-inclusive class.

이 연구의 목적은 케이 팝의 음악적 특징을 분석하여 음악교육에 수용 가능성을 탐색하려고 한 것이다. 연구의 주요 내용은 케이 팝의 의미를 문헌을 통해 정리하는 것, 케이 팝의 음악적 특징을 분석하는 것이었다. 연구 대상은 케이 팝이라고 불리는 음악 중 한국인이 만들었고 연주하고 있으며 외국에서 크게 인기를 얻었던 9곡으로 하였다. 분석 내용은 악곡들의 리듬, 가락, 화성적 특성이었다. 연구의 결론은 첫째, 케이 팝은 대중 음악, 유행 음악, 상업 음악으로 분류되지만 음악교육의 목적을 달성하는데 활용할 수 있는 소재가 될 수 있고, 둘째, 케이 팝은 음악교육에서 지도하고자 하는 다양한 음악적 개념을 담고 있는 음악이며, 셋째, 케이 팝은 현재 우리나라의 음악과 관련된 사회나 문화를 설명할 수 있는 좋은 소재라고 볼 수 있다.
