This research views the Diaspora theory as the basic logical frame work and attempts to resolve the relationship between the Korean community and the Korean Peninsula.
Therefore, through analyzing the Korean academic discussion of the sense of identity, the research analyzes the social and cultural value which is pursued by the Korean society in the two cultural systems of China and the Korean Peninsula. From the analyzed results, the Korean have the so-called multiple identities which the national identity and the clan identity overlap together. Moreover, they are trying to depend on the multi-cultural identity between the two cultural systems to maintain and expand their living space and function.
The Korean community and the Korean Peninsula have maintained close ties all the time. The Chinese Korean provides cheap labor for the South Korea and has made some contribution to the development of the South Korean economy. At the same time, the Chinese Korean acts as the unique media in the development of relations between China and the South Korea. From the perspective of a unified Korea, the Korean unique culture can play an important role in the cultural integration of the North Korea and South Korea.

이 연구는 디아스포라에 관련한 논리의 틀 속에서 디아스포라와 모국, 즉조선족과 한반도사이의 관계를 규명하는데 연구의 목적을 두었다.
이에 따라 지금까지 조선족학계 내에서 전개된 조선족 정체성 담론을 분석하고, 한반도와 중국이라는 양 문화체계내에서 조선족은 어떠한 삶을 추구하고 있는지를 분석했다. 결과적으로 조선족들은 (중국)국민적 정체성과 종족정체성이 혼재된 이른바 다중적 정체성 특징을 띠고 있으며, 또한 이들은 중국과 한반도 양 문화체계를 초월하는 문화적 다중성을 강조하면서 개방사회에서의 생존공간 및 생존기능 확보에 적극적으로 나서고자하고 있다.
조선족사회는 그동안 한반도와 밀접한 유대 관계를 유지해왔다. 특히 1990년대 중반이후부터 한국사회 저임금노동력의 공급원 역할을 함으로써 한국경제발전에 음성적 기여를 해왔다.
더욱이 한국과 중국간 교류라는 측면에서 조선족은 매개적 작용을 통해 양국관계를 조화롭게 만드는 역할도 담당해왔다. 한반도 통일이라는 측면에서 볼 때, 조선족은 남북 쌍방의 문화적 소통과 통합을 이루어가는데 있어서 중요한 중간자 집단이라고 본다. 또한 이러한 기능을 현실화하기 위해서는 동족집단에 대한 미련과 경제적 보상을 전제로 한 ‘합리적 선택'이 함께 작용해야만 진정한 동력을 얻게 될 것이다.
