For the purpose of this paper, the rate of total factor productivity (TFP) of Yangzi River Delta and Pearl River Delta Areas was calculated first, then the technical progress(TP) was derived from it. After the procedure, some TP was shown during the years from 1981 to 2005, but the progress is not as notable as would be expected. The result of Granger Causality Test makes it clear that in the two regions, the FDI and TP have some kind of relationship between them. However, to be shark, according to Error Correction Model in the two regions the relationships between the two variables are proven to be negative. During the twenty five years of openness and revolution, the two regions received so much foreign capital and many foreign companies were established, but it seems that this process failed to bring technological progress to the regions. However, it is clear that TE was improved during the periods by the inflow of FDI and establishment of foreign companies in the regions.

중국내 해외직접투자가 집중되어 있는 장강삼각주지역과 주강삼각주 지역이 본 논문의 연구대상지역이며 동지역에 있어서 기술의 변화는 해외직접투자와 어떠한 관계를 가지고 있는 지를 살펴보는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 먼저 양 지역의 총요소 생산성 변화율을 산 출한 뒤 이를 기술효율 변화율과 기술진보의 두 부분으로 나누었다. 1981년에서 2005년 까지의 기간 동안 양 지역의 기술진보는 일정부분의 상승을 경험하였 지만, 일반적으로 기 대하는 정도의 높은 상승률을 보이지는 않고 있다. Granger 인과성 테 스트결과로는 두 지역 모두에서 해외직접투자와 기술진보가 상관관계가 있는 것으로 파악되지만, 놀랍게도 오차수정모형을 통하여 살펴본 결과 두 지역 모두 해외직접투자가 기 술진보를 이끌어내 었다는 결과를 보이지 않고 있다. 다만 해외직접투자가 기술진보가 아닌 기술효율을 이끌 어내었다는 결과를 오차수정모형은 보여 주고 있다. 이를 통하여 추 론할 수 있는 바는, 20년이 넘는 개혁개방의 결과 중국은 많은 해외직접투자와 다국적기 업을 받아들였지만 이러한 유입이 경제학적인 의미의 기술진보를 가져오지는 못하였고, 다만 주어진 환경과 기술을 효율적으로 사용하도록 개선되어지는 개선효과를 경험하게 되었다고 할 수 있다.
