The purposes of this study are to examine the employment and the present state of social enterprises on Jeju Island, and to analyse its performance. Based on the results from analyses, we would suggest main sustainable development strategies of local social enterprise as follows. First, the local resources and the demand for social service should be prepared for the sustainable social enterprise. Second, the differentiation strategy of a social entrepreneur should be established. Third, the effort to create social enterprise-friendly market environment and effective promotion activities are needed. Fourth, a close cooperation between principal agents of social enterprise has to be build and the strategy for the symbiotic relationship between local community and corporation could be necessary. Finally, it would be expected that a road map and a detailed plan for social enterprise promotion would contribute to nurture and develop social enterprise.

본 연구에서는 제주도 사회적기업의 고용 및 사회적기업의 현황을 살펴보고 제주지역을 중심으로 사회적기업의 성과를 분석하였으며, 이를 토대로 지역 사회적기업의 지속가능한 성장 발전 전략을 제시하였다. 사회적기업이 지속가능하려면 가장 먼저 지역자원 및 사회서비스 수요 조사가 선행되어야 한다. 둘째는 사회적기업가 양성의 차별화 전략이 수립되어야 한다. 셋째, 사회적기업 친화적 시장조성과 효과적인 홍보가 필요하다. 넷째, 사회적기업 관련 주체간 긴밀한 협업관계가 구축되어 지역과 기업이 공생발전할 수 있는 전략이 필요하다. 마지막으로 자치단체의 사회적기업 육성 로드맵과 세부 추진계획 수립이 사회적기업 육성 발전에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.
