- There have been considerable changes in the major variables of the labor market such as the unemployment rate, the employment rate, and the labor-force participation rate after the IMF crisis. These changes vary depending on the region whether it is a Seoul metropolitan(SM) region or not. First, the relative volatilities to the real GDP growth rate of the major variables have increased sharply in the SM region after the IMF crisis whereas they have decreased in other regions. Second, the relationship between the unemployment rate and the labor-force participation rate has been strengthened and so has the relationship between the employment rate and the labor-force participation rate after the IMF crisis in the SM region. On the contrary, those relationships have been somewhat weakened in other regions after the IMF crisis. Finally, according to the analysis of variance decomposition of the VEC model, the relative importance of the labor-force participation rate in affecting the unemployment and the employment rate has increased after the IMF crisis in the SM region, whereas it has not increased in other regions. Especially in Chungcheng and Honam regions, it has somewhat decreased after the IMF crisis.

- 실업률, 고용률 및 경제활동참가율 등 주요 노동시장 변수들의 관계에서 IMF 외환위기를 전후로 상당한 변화가 발생하였다. 이러한 변화는 지역적으로 매우 큰 차이점을 보이고 있다. 특히 수도권지역과 기타 지역과의 차이점이 매우 크게 나타나고 있다. 첫째, 실업률, 고용률 및 경제활동참가율의 상대적인 변동성이 IMF 외환위기 이후에 증가하고 이러한 현상은 수도권지역에서 크게 나타나지만 수도권 이외의 지역에서는 오히려 노동시장 변수들의 상대적인 변동성이 줄어들고 있다. 둘째, 실업률 및 고용률과 경제활동참가율과의 관계가 수도권에서는 IMF 경제위기 이후에 강화되고 있지만 수도권 이외의 지역에서는 오히려 감소하는 경향을 보인다. 마지막으로 실업률과 고용률의 분산분해에서 경제활동참가율의 비중이 수도권지역에서는 IMF 경제위기 이후에 증가하고 있지만 수도권 이외의 지역에서는 감소하는 경향을 보인다. 이러한 차이는 특히 수도권지역과 충청권지역 및 호남권지역에서 매우 크게 나타나고 있다.
