The purpose of this study is to contribute to crime prevention and policing policies through deriving seasonal cycle and monthly seasonal factors of major crime, such as murder, robbery, burglary, rape, violence, etc. In order to achieve this purpose, Sequential Chart of Time Series(N), Autocorrelation Analysis of Time Series(A), Seasonal Decomposition of Time Series(S) was performed. The following is the result of the study. Murder crime is in progress a cycle of 12 months in the analysis Autocorrelation Function and its Seasonal factors are in August(118.0%), July(116.9%), September(115.3%), May(108.8%), October(106.0%), June(104.1%), April(102.9%), March(96.7%), November(86.9%), December(86.1%), January(80.1%) and February(78.2%). Robbery crime is in progress a cycle of 12 months in the analysis Autocorrelation Function and its Seasonal factors are in May(136.2%), April (120.1%), March 112.1%), September(108.9%), October(102.6%), June(98.5%), July(98.1%), August(97.4%), February(82.4%), January(81.7%), November(81.6%), and December(80.5%). Burglary crime is in progress a cycle of 12 months in the analysis Autocorrelation Function and its Seasonal factors are in May(116.0%), October(109.5%), September(108.6%), June(107.2%), November(103.0%), December(103.0%), April(102.6%), July(102.6%), August(100.4%), March(96.6%), January(75.4%), and February(75.1%). Rape crime is in progress a cycle of 12 months in the analysis Autocorrelation Function and its Seasonal factors are in July(117.9%), May(114%), August(113.8%), September(113.2%), June(109.2%), October(109.2%), April(97.2%), 11month(96.4%), March(92.6%), December(88.2%), January(77.2%), and February(71.3%). Violence crime is in progress a cycle of 12 months in the analysis Autocorrelation Function and its Seasonal factors are in October(109.7%), July(109.1%), September(107.5%), June(105.7%), August(104.7%), May(103.2%), November(101.1%), December(96.7%), March(95.7%), April(94.9%), January(91.9%) and February(79.8%).

본 연구는 살인, 강도, 절도, 강간, 폭력 등 주요범죄의 계절적 주기, 월별 계절요인을 도출하여 범죄 발생의 계절적 추세 분석에 기초한 범죄 예방, 치안정책 수립에 기여하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 2002년부터 2010년까지의 살인, 강도, 절도, 강간, 폭력 등 주요범죄에 대한 월별 발생건수를 IBM PASW(SPSS) 19.0을 사용하여 시계열 순차도표(N), 시계열 자기상관(A), 시계열 계절분해(S)를 실시하였다. 이와 같은 연구목적과 연구방법을 통하여 도출한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 살인 범죄는 자기상관함수 분석에서 12개월 주기로 진행되고, 계절요인은 8월(118.0%), 7월(116.9%), 9월(115.3%), 5월(108.8%), 10월(106.0%), 6월(104.1%), 4월(102.9%), 3월(96.7%), 11월(86.9%), 12월(86.1%), 1월(80.1%), 2월(78.2%) 순으로 나타났다. 강도 범죄는 자기상관함수 분석에서 12개월 주기로 진행되고, 계절요인은 5월(136.2%), 4월(120.1%), 3월112.1%), 9월(108.9%), 10월(102.6%), 6월(98.5%), 7월(98.1%), 8월(97.4%), 2월(82.4%), 1월(81.7%), 11월(81.6%), 12월(80.5%) 순으로 나타났다. 절도 범죄는 자기상관함수 분석에서 12개월 주기로 진행되고, 계절요인은 5월(116.0%), 10월(109.5%), 9월(108.6%), 6월(107.2%), 11월(103.0%), 12월(103.0%), 4월(102.6%), 7월(102.6%), 8월(100.4%), 3월(96.6%), 1월(75.4%), 2월(75.1%) 순으로 나타났다. 강간 범죄는 자기상관함수 분석에서 12개월 주기로 진행되고, 계절요인은 7월(117.9%), 5월(114%), 8월(113.8%), 9월(113.2%), 6월(109.2%), 10월(109.2%), 4월(97.2%), 11월(96.4%), 3월(92.6%), 12월(88.2%), 1월(77.2%), 2월(71.3%) 순으로 나타났다. 폭력 범죄는 자기상관함수 분석에서 12개월 주기로 진행되고, 계절요인은 10월(109.7%), 7월(109.1%), 9월(107.5%), 6월(105.7%), 8월(104.7%), 5월(103.2%), 11월(101.1%), 12월(96.7%), 3월(95.7%), 4월(94.9%), 1월(91.9%), 2월(79.8%) 순으로 나타났다.
