The aim of this paper is to introduce the theory and method of interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA). Within the paper I will explore the fundamental aims of IPA and discuss the underpinning ontological and epistemological positions. The paper is targeted at those who have an emerging interest in IPA, whom with further exploration, may feel enabled to use this methodology to pursue their research interest.
