In Germany, there are rigorous discussions concerning the continuous resistance by the civil society regarding party politics and the measures of new political participation that follows. At the same time, the low political participation of the young generation is being viewed as a new challenge in the political education. The environment that Germany provides for its youth and the young generation to participate in politics is rated to be better than any other countries. Despite such fact, the low participation in politics and the high distrust for party politics recently raise the need to consciously strengthen 'political' aspects in the political education. The introspection of political education so far was aimed at guidance in the profession and social responsibility or social empathy. This research highlights the fact that political participation cannot be achieved in separation from the social scene and emphasizes that the introspection of political education is achieved in the social scene by the students. In addition, opportunities for the young people to learn politics is made possible through the various experiences within the society as well as practical experiences. For example, it was found that topics of sustainable future through social security and social system, globalization, gender equality and intergenerational justice, public policy, civil society and social solidarity were being dealt with.

독일에서는 정당정치에 대한 시민사회의 잇따른 저항과 이로 인한 새로운 정치참여 방안들이 논의되고 있다. 동시에 젊은 세대들의 낮은 정치참여는 정치교육의 새로운 도전과제로 받아들이고 있다. 독일의 청소년과 젊은 계층의 정치참여를 위한 환경들은 그 어느 국가보다 잘되어 있는 것으로 평가된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 최근의 낮은 정치참여와 기성 정당정치에 대한 높은 불신은 정치적인 것을 더 의식적으로 강화해야 할 필요성을 제기한다. 본 연구는 정치참여는 사회현장에서 분리되어 이루어질 수 없다는 문제를 제기하며, 학생들의 사회현장에서의 정치교육적 성찰이 이루어질 것을 강조한다. 지금까지의 정치교육에 대한 성찰은 직업적인 방향제시와 사회적 공동책임 또는 사회적인 공감을 목표로 해왔다. 이와 더불어 독일에서 정치교육의 새로운 연구결과들은 다양한 사회내에서의 체험과 현장 경험을 통해 젊은이들에게 정치학습에 대한 기회가 더 가능하다고 본다. 예를 들면 사회 안전과 사회체계, 글로벌화, 양성평등 정의(正義)와 세대간의 정의(正義), 지역 정책, 시민사회와 사회연대를 통한 지속가능한 미래의 가능한 주제들이 새롭게 다루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
