The purpose of this study was to develop a measure of the moral motivation for Korean adolescents, and to obtain evidence of validation for interpreting the scores on the testing tool. The moral motivation corresponds to the third component among four component model which J. Rest suggested, An initial tool included three stories comprised of 6-item per story which was composed of two factors based on the theories of moral identity and moral emotion, It was redefined as the construct comprised of three factors and sub six factors which added third factor related with researches of optimism after reviewing the content-related validity in the consubence for developing the Korea Youth Morality Test. Then this testing tool finally was composed of three factors with 21-item in the three stories of moral exemplar. The preliminary test was conducted to 262 middle school students and high school students to examine the reliability and validity of the moral motivation test for adolescents. The results of this study were summarized as follows: first, the value of coefficient alpha for the final 21-item was .858 after removing invalid responses. second, the result of a series of confirmatory factor analysis didn't provide the evidence of the validity of three factors model, It showed the values contained in the story was recognized as more influential factors than factors designed to measure in this study, and was found one factor model of moral identity through three stories. Third, we revised the testing tool which was composed of one factor model with topic of the macro morality about moral exemplar story. In the subsequent study, in order to supplement the limitation of this research, it is very necessary to develop test with high validity by analyzing the depth interviews and using the different types of questionnaire on moral motivation.

본 연구는 우리나라 청소년들의 도덕적 동기화 검사 도구를 개발하고 타당화하는 데 목적이 있다. 검사도구 초안에서 레스트의 4구성요소 모델에 근거하여 도덕적 동기화를 정의하고, 도덕적 정체성과 도덕적 감정에 기초하여 2개의 하위영역을 구인으로 설정하였다. 그리고 귀감모델의 이야기 사례와 Likert식 5단계 평정법에 의한 문항형식을 활용하여 총 3사례(사례별 6문항 구조)로 이루어진 도덕적 동기화 검사도구의 초안을 개발하였다. 검사도구 관련 전체회의와 중고등학교 교사와 학생의 자문을 받아 수정 보완한 후, 최종적으로 낙관성 연구결과를 추가하여 사례별 3대항목 6소항목의 구인을 확정하고, 총 3개 사례의 21문항의 예비검사를 개발하여 중․고등학생 총 262명을 대상으로 표준화작업을 하였다. 허위 응답자를 제거하는 문항을 활용하여 제거하여 검사도구의 신뢰도는 .858로 개발된 도덕적 동기화 검사의 Cronbach α는 비교적 높았다. 내용타당도는 양호하였지만 3요인의 구인 타당도는 지지되지 않았다. 이야기 사례 구인이 하위 항목 하위에 비해 영향력이 있었고 3개의 이야기 사례를 관통하는 단일 구인요인이 발견되었다. 따라서 3개의 귀감사례의 도덕적 주제를 거시도덕으로 통일하고 도덕적 정체성의 1요인 모델로 구인을 재설정하였다. 이에 2차 년도에는 심층면접 자료를 분석하고 문항 개발 방식을 다양화하여 검사도구의 타당도를 높일 계획이다.
