Current of remedial treatment is making progress from treatment of facilities to treatment of society these days. That is, treatment for criminals is making progress from imprisonment execution detaining in jail to making criminals adapting society as a member of society after releasing from prison as reforming, correcting and improving ability of adapting in society. In this study, we will find the way to expand human rights for criminals, to achievement object of remedial welfare ,that is, resocialization as checking social treatment of the present condition in Korea, finding ways to vitalize solution. The followings are the suggestions to vitalize social treatments. First of all, solution to realize Furlough System, first, expanding target of Furlough System, second, relaxing requirement and expanding period of Furlough System, third, relaxing responsibility for correcting thinking. For the way to vitalize Works Release. first, expanding of professional field, second, expanding target of Works Release, third, expanding Works Release without guard, relaxing responsibility for correcting thinking with guard, fourth, changing perception for the prisoners And the way to vitalize Family Visiting System, first, expanding install of Family Visiting System, second, extending available period and available times, third, providing beforehand information for the family and implementing beforehand education for prisoners Social treatment is efficient for achieving correcting welfare object. because it can be helpful for returning to society and resocialization of prisoners as enforcing social adapting abilities of prisoners diminishing effect of being detained in brand. Therefore it is important to vitalize social treatments for developing correcting welfare in Korea

현대 교정 처우의 흐름은 시설내 처우에서 사회적 처우로 나아가고 있다. 즉 범죄자에 대한 처우가 교도소에 구금하여 처벌하는 자유형 집행방법에서 범죄자의 사회적응능력을 향상시키고 교정·교화하여 출소후 사회의 한 구성원으로서 잘 적응하여 살아갈 수 있도록 하는 방향으로 나아가고 있는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 사회적 처우의 현황을 살펴보고 보다 활성화될 수 있는 방안을 모색해 봄으로써 수형자에 대한 인권적 처우를 확대하고 재사회화라는 교정복지 목적 달성에 도움이 되고자 하였는 바, 본 연구에서 사회적 처우의 활성화 방안으로 제시한 것은 다음과 같다. 먼저 귀휴 제도의 활성화 방안으로는 첫째, 귀휴 제도 대상자의 확대 둘째, 귀휴 요건의 완화 및 귀휴 기간의 연장 셋째, 교정사고에 대한 계호 책임의 완화이다. 외부통근제도의 활성화 방안은 첫째, 외부통근작업에서의 전문 직종 확대 둘째, 외부통근제 대상자의 확대 셋째, 무계호 외부통근작업의 확대 및 교정사고에 대한 계호 책임의 완화 넷째, 수형자에 대한 사회적 인식의 변화이다. 그리고 가족만남의 집의 활성화 방안으로는 첫째, 가족만남의 집 설치 확대 둘째, 이용 기간 및 이용 횟수의 연장 셋째, 수형자의 사전 교육 실시 및 그 가족에게 사전 정보 제공 등이다. 사회적 처우는 구금의 낙인 효과를 줄이고 수형자의 사회적응능력을 강화시켜 수형자의 사회복귀와 재사회화에 도움을 주므로 교정복지 목적 달성에 효율적이다. 따라서 우리나라는 교정복지의 선진화를 위해서 사회적 처우를 보다 활성화시켜야 할 것이다.
