The 21st century is so-called the knowledge-based society. One of the representative features of the society is chronical joblessness in the youth. The chronical unemployment of the youth is under the common and gradual increasing situation encountering in every countries. The purpose of this study is to find the existence of factors of job mismatch of the youth in Gyeongsangnam-do, province under circumstances where the solution of the youth unemployment cannot be found with ease. To do so, at least three different ways were hired to analyze and discover the existence of job mismatching factors of the youth. For example, current states, theories and the survey analyses are such methodology. Especially, the survey tried to identify the causes of the mismatching related to discrepancies between demand and supply in the youth's jobs in Gyeongsangnam-do by studying related theories and analyzing existing data and questionnaires. Job mismatches were divided into 12 parts, that is, schooling, major, certificates holding, skill, sex, ethnic, region, industry, firm's size, type of business, type of occupation and salary, etc. Job mismatches were found in every 12 categories. This study shows that the major factors resulting in job mismatching of the youth should be solved and eliminated in advance. This study suggests some policy implications as a way to solve these job mismatching factors of the youth.

21세기 지식기반사회를 맞아 청년실업 문제가 만성적으로 정체되어 가는 상황을 접하고 있다. 동시에 만성적인 사회문제로 되어 가는 청년일자리 문제를 해결하기 위한 전제의 하나로 일자리 미스매치 원인과 내용을 파악하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 이를 위해 경상남도를 중심으로 청년일자리 공급과 수요 사이에 발생하는 불일치의 요인을 이론과 현황 및 실태분석 등을 통해 살펴보았다. 관점에 따른 미스매치를 12가지로 나누어 각각에 대한 미스매치의 존재여부를 분석한 결과, 학력, 전공, 자격증, 숙련, 성별, 인종, 지역, 산업, 기업, 업종, 직종, 임금 등 12가지 전반에 있어서 청년일자리 불일치의 원인이 발생하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 미스매치를 해결하기 위해서는 정부, 대학 등 각급 학교, 지방자치단체, 기업, 창업보육기관, 기업지원기관 등 각 주체별로 혹은 상호협력으로 노력해야 가능하며, 이를 위해 몇 가지 해법과 방향을 제시하였다. 특히 지식기반사회에서 경제활동참가율을 제고하는 노력은 오히려 청년일자리 미스매치를 해소하고 청년실업률을 낮추는 것보다 더 긴요한 정책이 될 수 있음도 강조하고 있다.
