This study was designed to provide the necessary materials to activate the elementary school students' volunteer activities, to develop a program for internalization of the need for continuous and voluntary volunteer service, and thus to verify the effect of the program. To achieve the purpose, the following hypotheses are formulated on the basis of theoretical background. 1. The elementary school students' attitude towards volunteer service will be improved by the experience-type preeducation program. 2. The elementary school students' motivation towards volunteer service will be improved by the experience-type preeducation program. To verify the effect of the experience-type preeducation program on the attitude and motivation towards volunteer service, two six-grade classes of an elementary school in Jinju were selected, one for the experiment group, the other one for the control group, and were put to a pre- and post-test of attitude and motivation. The result of positive effects of the experience-type preeducation program suggests the necessity for developing a variety of programs to internalize the significance and value of volunteer service and heighten the satisfaction from such work so as to activate volunteer service. As the attitude and motivation are two factors influencing the volunteer service to continue on a voluntary basis, and again education on and evaluation of volunteer service can influence the two important factors, such programs are necessary to administer as can level up the attitude and motivation towards volunteer service.

본 연구는 초등학교 아동을 대상으로 한 체험식 사전교육 프로그램이 아동의 자원봉사활동에 대한 태도와 동기에 미치는 영향을 밝히는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 진주시내 J초등학교 6학년 아동을 대상으로 실험집단과 통제집단을 구성하여 두 집단의 동질성을 확인한 후, 실험집단 아동들에게는 매회 40분씩 총 10회에 걸쳐 체험식 사전교육 프로그램을 투입하였다. 사전 및 사후에 걸쳐 자원봉사활동에 대한 태도와 동기를 측정한 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 실험집단의 자원봉사활동에 대한 태도점수 측정 결과 프로그램을 투입한 이후의 사후 점수가 사전 점수보다 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 실험집단의 자원봉사활동에 대한 동기 사후 점수 측정 결과 역시 사전에 측정된 동기점수가보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 실험집단의 자원봉사활동에 대한 태도와 동기의 사후 점수가 사전 점수보다 모두 통계적으로 유의하게 높았다. 따라서 학교교육에서 자원봉사와 관련된 사전교육 프로그램을 보다 적
극적으로 활용하는 구체적인 방안이 모색되어야 할 것이다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 자원봉사활동에 대한 태도와 동기의 측정이 자기보고식에 한정되었기 때문에, 측정방법을 다원화하여 일반화 가능성을 제고할 수 있는 후속연구가 요망된다.
