The purpose of this study was to present the edifice of knowledge from the anthropological perspective on Chinese martial arts of fist by examining geographical backgrounds and techniques or styles of Chinese Internal and External Family in Martial Arts of Fist. The conclusions are as follows: First, among many, Chinese martial arts can be split into two category by its location: northern(北拳) and southern(南拳), referring to what part of China the styles originated from, separated by the Yangtze River. Second, in Chinese martial arts, External Family considers 'physical strength' as the most important element while Internal Family regards 'energy' as its' ultimate pursuit. Third, there are three main sects among Internal Family, which is called 'Samdaemoon'; Taegukkwon formed by the Great Absolute Theory, Hyoungeuikwon by the Five Element Theory, and Palgwaejang by the Eight Trigrams for Divination Theory. Forth, Shaolin martial arts, one strand of External Family, has been handed down to both the warrior monks of Sungsan Shaoin Monastery, the main line of Fujian Shaolin Temple, and lay people through generations and, in the meantime, has been developed into various sects in accordance with its region and techniques.

이 연구는 중국 내가권법과 외가권법의 지역적 배경과 기술적 형태, 그리고 특성을 살펴봄으로써 중국 권법의 스포츠인류학적 지식 체계를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이와 관련하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 중국의 권법은 지역적으로, 양쯔강(揚子江)을 경계로 남파 권법과 북파 권법으로 구분하고 있었다. 둘째, 중국 권법은 기술적으로, 외가권법은 외공 단련 즉, ‘외형적인 힘’을 중시하고 있고, 내가권법은, 내공단련인 ‘기(氣)’를 중히 여기는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 태극권, 형의권, 팔괘장을 내가권 삼대문이라 일컫는데, 태극권은 태극학설에 의해 형의권은 오행학설에 의해, 팔괘장은 팔괘학설에 의해 만들어졌음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 외가권인 소림권법은 일반적으로, 복건성 소림사의 적파(嫡派)인 숭산 소림사의 승려들과 민간인 사이에 전해진 권법으로, 지역과 기술에 따라 다양한 문파(門派)를 형성하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
