1. It is the life of the paradise to continue the life by a birth of the stars and the moon and bearing all things of the earth. That also means the life of the heaven. A human being in all the life of the earth is the most valuable being and the lord of all creation. The reason why such a man can live eternal life is that a man has the reason. 2. The nature of human being is sacred. Human being can't live eternal life without storing goodness and virtue as the reason of man. Although we come from the heaven, if we do a bad act, we can't live eternally. After all, human being is destroyed by the bad act which is committed. If human being does a dishonest thing, therefore, he falls into the immorality and becomes extinct forever including the beginning of his life due to SAMSINJIWHA(the anger of the three gods governing childbirth). 3. When I who came from many parents in a former existence am now born in the paradise and do the good and the virtue, I can live happily and live forever from son to son. This is the law of the heaven, the virtue of the man(the essence, the progress, the advantage, the honesty), the morality of the world(man and woman, husband and wife, father and son, brothers, young and old, friends) and the virtue controlling the world(humanity, justice, politeness, wisdom, faith). 4. In the west, these are called as the four major virtues, which guides the life to the state of a realization by practicing these moralities sincerely. 5. Buddhism calls these 7 wisdoms and 8 wisdoms, teaches the mental training through the Buddhist sermon like 5 commandments and leads the man to the truthful life. In Christianity, these are also served as the Ten Commandments, the pray and the sacrament of penance which leads the life. Buddhism regards Buddha, Buddhism and a monk as subjects. In Christianity, the holy spirit, the father and the son are regarded as subjects. In Confucianism, the heaven, the ground and the human being are subjects. These are the method by which we can develope a fine character and the effort which we try for the eternal life. 6. The behavior human being serves the three souls(the world after death) is a vain superstition and a false sophism. It makes people believe and follow to the way of a delusion. It is really a matter for regret. The miracle that a man doesn't burn in fire or doesn't drown in water is just supernatural power. This is a temporary state happened by a mystic prophecy, art, skill and music and when a man stands up and starts to walk by the mystery of a dream, magical tricks, the acupuncture and the secrets, people try to make it a eternal truth. Most of people are deluded by that miracle because it becomes the faith. This is caused by some believers trying to. 7. After dying, there is no paradise and no heaven and they can't exist. People who are living now have come up to now by doing a right law and behavior. Therefore people must not commit the sin, do cultivate virtue and follow the way of the eternal life. This is the virtue and the morality which rule over the heaven, the earth and the human being. 8. The world of perfect bliss and the heaven are not the world after dying but the living world. According to this, when Sakyamuni said he perceived a truth, at first he knew the principles of Yin and Yang, attained spiritual enlightenment and then made his son, Nahura, a monk. After attaining Nirvana, he succeeded to Buddhism. 9. But Confucius, before everything, attained spiritual enlightenment, then realized the principles of Yin and Yang and gave birth to a baby. So his grandson, Jasa, received the mantle of the preceding abbot. He would be born in the paradise as the divine body like a saint and live forever. Merely the blood flowing in my body is the one of ancestors. As the hometown of our ancestors, the heaven and the earth, are like the Whangha river, all of us are come from Mt. Backdu, the heaven and the earth. If we don't store a virtue in our body and do commit a vice, therefore, we can't live forever in perfect bliss. Namely, the heaven and the paradise are the present world, so we have to store the good, cultivate our moral sense and search the way of eternal life. HYOCHEONDAEDO(To respect the will of the heaven) 1. HYOCHEON means that human being learns the will of the heaven and teaches it to others. Only human being can learn and teach the will of the heaven. But the ignorant people don't know the will of the heaven. The one who only knows the will is SEONGHYEONGUNJA(a sage man of virtue). SEONGHYEONGUNJA externally is known like that the one knows the will of the heaven as soon as he is born, but it actually indicates the one who experiences spiritual awakening. 2. This means the person who attains Nirvana. And it also indicates the one who knows the way human being has to follow, searches this way, learns the ways of Heaven and realizes the ways of Human being. This is called SEONGTONGDAEDO. As this is a virtuous person and the sage of a pioneer, so the name is called CHEONJO(the ancestor of heaven). 3. To believe and follow it is called CHEONJOSINANG(the faith for the heaven's ancestor). CHEONJOKYO(the teaching of the heaven's ancestor) means that to inherit it and to teach it and CHEONJOHAK means the learning of the heaven's ancestor. Because of that reason, the learning of HYOCHEONDAEDO is CHEONJOHAK, the teaching of it is CHEONJOKYO and the belief of it is CHEONJOSINANG. 4. God father of the heaven makes the sky, the earth and the man and has a man the lord of all creation. So three JAE means the sky, the earth and the man, that it indicates HYOCHEON of these days. Therefore sages of old explained the meaning of being a fine character. For example, Confucius emphasized perfect virtue, Sakyamuni said mercy and Jesus explained love of mankind. All are resulted in love, but it is insufficient to understand the essence of them. So we have to find out thoroughly how the sky, the earth and the man came into being. 5. We also must know the reason that the sky was made by God father. We just have understood like that all things in the universe were made because of being the sky. So we have thought that the sky had the sun, the sun did the earth, the earth did all creations and human being is among of them. We haven't found out the real truth and just respected the sky. Sages also taught us to respect the heaven, so we have followed Confucius, Sakyamuni and Jesus. The teachings of them have been carried on up to now. 6. I have tried to find out the origin. For mankind to understand and believe I indicate the truth saying HYOCHEONDAEDO that the origin existed before a birth of the sky and the earth. HYOCHEON means that the sky also has the father. So the sky exists following the father of the sky. 7. This means that the sky has ancestors and exists in follow of them. It is very HYOCHEONJO(to respect the ancestors of the sky). As a judgement of human being can't fathom that, we refer the faith for HYOCHEONJO to CHEONJOSINANG, the study of HYOCHEONJO to CHOENJOHAK and the teaching of HYOCHEONJO to HYOCHEONKYO. As we can't understand conditions before the birth of sky, we try to investigate the principles of all creations around on the heaven. This research had been CHEONLEE(the principles of heaven) before the science and the research has become the faith after the science. 8. Because we can't tell conditions before Gad father, CHEONJOKYO believes from a point of time when the sky existed and the studies of them is CHEONJOHAK. To understand a situation before the heaven is HYOCHEONDAEDO. HYOCHEONDAEDO means the essence, the progress, the advantage and the honesty(the fortunetelling based on Yin and Yang) and becomes form of the truth of the heaven. As human being follows this truth, this is CHEONHADAEDO(the truth below the heaven). By practicing the truth of the heaven, a man can be well versed in virtue. 9. HYOCHEONDAEDO is the essence, the progress, the advantage and the honesty which a man follows. Human being opens the virtue of mankind in order of man and woman, husband and wife, father and son, brothers and old and young and follows the way of mankind according to the humanity, justice, politeness, wisdom and faith. As such a belief is CHEONJOKYO and I am connected with a long time, I am in the center of three JAE. 10. So I am the end and at the same time the beginning. I believe all my past life, learn and follow the teachings of heaven's ancestors. That is the life of HYOCHEONDAEDO, the learning of this is CHEONJOHAK, the teachings is CHEONJOKYO and the faith is CHEONJOSINANG. This is the way for human being to follow, the faith to believe, the knowledge to learn and the education to teach. 11. The instruction of Confucius is perfect virtue(the sky, the earth and the man), Sakyamuni's is mercy(Buddha, Buddhism and a monk) and Jesus's is love of mankind(the holy spirit, the father and the son). All are resulted in love commonly, which is the lesson of HYOCHEONDAEDO. Human being will have to realize the true meaning, stand together in HYOCHEON, learn and follow the teaching of heaven's ancestors by CHEONJOSINANG and open the relationships of husband and wife, father and son, brothers, young and old and friends. So we will prosper and live together at peace with all the world. 12. The act of believing of superstition, falsehood and spirits lost in a maze by a religion must not be done by human being. If we set up a right will, know and practice the virtue of mankind according to the teachings of the heaven and become a faithful couple, generous parents and a dutiful child, I and our family will live eternally.
오늘날 우리 한국 사회가 처해 있는 국내외적인 많은 어려움 속에서 한국의 철학계가 이제는 자신의 존재 이유를 근본적으로 다시 생각해 보고 새로운 방향을 추구해 나아가야만 한다는 자성의 목소리들이 더욱 높아져 가고 있습니다.
되돌아 보건대 지난 수십년간 우리 철학인들의 노력으로 많은 발전이 이어져 오기는 하였으나 아직도 한국의 철학계는 일제가 남기고 간 뿌리 깊은 구조적 왜곡의 도식적 틀로 부터 헤어나지 못하고 있는가 하면, 또 다른 한편으로는 근래에 진행되고 있는 철학 활동들의 상당한 부분이 외국 철학계의 축소판적 모방 내지는 반복에 그침으로써 진정한 의미의 현실성에 대하여 역행까지 하고 있다는 사실들이 심각한 우려를 불러 일으키고 있습니다.
철학은 분명 시대와 사회의 현실적 토양에 뿌리를 둔 자생적이고 종합적인 지적 노력들의 결집장인 것입니다. 이제 한국의 철학계는 지난 날의 왜곡된 도식적 틀과, 주체성을 상실한 타성적 모방을 면밀한 비판적 반성과 함께 철저히 극복하여야 하며 새로운 시야와 태도를 가지고 우리들 현실의 심층부에 놓여 있는 문제들에 가까이 다가가야만 합니다. 진정 우리의 철학계는 근본적인 질적 전환의 단계에 접어들고 있는 것입니다.
과거 철학사를 되돌아볼 때, 철학은 어렵고 복잡한 시대적 전환기의 상황에 놓여질수록 더욱더 그 진가를 발휘하여 그 사회의 내면에 은폐되어 있는 총체적 구조 연관의 모습들을 드러내어 밝혀 주고 새로 운 이념과 비젼을 제시함으로써 더 진일보한 인간 실현의 공동체 형성에 기여해 왔음을 우리는 확인할 수 있습니다.
이러한 점에서 볼 때 한국의 현실 상황은 어려운 문제들이 구조적으로 복잡하게 얽혀 있는 난해한 장이면서 동시에 새로운 철학의 탄생을 예고하는 풍부한 다양성의 토양인 것입니다.
이 새로운 철학적 종합은, 현재 우리의 삶을 구성하고 있는 다양성의 토양이 아직 성숙한 문화적 종합을 이루지 못한 채 그저 혼재된 상태에 놓여져 있음으로 인해 더욱 절실히 요구되고 있다고 할 수 있습니다. 현재 우리의 대학과 사회는 외양상으로는 풍부함에 넘치고 있고, 또 전반적인 사회 발전의 수준이 이미 산업사회의 단계를 넘어 첨단 과학 기술 정보사회에 진입하고 있다고 말해지고 있지만, 그 내면의 문화 적이고 사회적인 과정들은 어느 틈엔가 자각하기 힘들 정도로 기술적 효율성과 자본의 논리라는 획일적 이데올로기에 의해 지배당하는 일차원적인 단순성의 수준으로 전락하고 있음을 볼 수 있습니다. 우리 사회의 교육과 문화는 이러한 일차원적인 경향에 밀려 비인간화의 황폐한 지대로 내몰리고 있는 것입니 다. 대학에서조차 철학은 잊혀져 가고 있는 중입니다.
그러나 바로 이러한 심각한 상황 때문에 철학은 자기 인식의 눈을 다시 떠야만 하는 것입니다.
그럼으로써 오늘날 이 사회에서 어떠한 획일적 논리가 막후에서 우리를 지배하고 있는가, 그 논리는 각 분야에서 어떠한 지식의 형태로 또 어떠한 문화의 방식으로 보이지 않게 작용하고 있는가를 공개된 담론의 무대에 올려 논의해야 합니다.
이러한 과정은 망각되고 왜곡된 우리들 존재의 본질을 다시 일깨우는 일이며, 또한 진정한 자유로운 인간 공동체의 문 화 형성에로 나아가는 길의 시작일 것입니다.
미래의 우리의 철학은 역사적 맥락 속에서 현실 상황의 내면적 구조 연관의 변화하는 역동적 모습을 분명히 드러내어 밝혀 주고 우리들 삶의 본질을 지켜 줌으로써 인간 공동체의 실현을 위한 교육적 문화 적 터전이 되어야 합니다.
이러한 철학의 과정은 우리의 철학인들 모두가 현실의 문제 의식에 공감하 고 서로의 학식과 구상들을 대화하며 뜻을 함께 모으는 가운데 서서히 결실을 맺어 갈 수 있을 것입니다.
우리들의 이러한 대화와 논의의 과정이 본래부터 국제적인 성격을 띠고 있는 것은 오늘날 모든 국가들의 사회 생활이 국제적인 상호 교류와 영향 속에서 이루어지고 있으며, 그 중에서도 특히 우리의 한국 사회는 동서양의 문화적 교차 지점에서 매우 복잡한 다양성의 현실 구조를 가지고 있기 때문입니다.
한국을 위시한 세계 여러 나라의 미래 사회를 이끌어갈 새로운 철학은 동서양의 수많은 철학 이론 들이 함께 참여하여 토론하는 집단적인 노력을 통하여 탄생할 것이며, 본 大同哲學會는 그것을 위한 대화의 중심 무대가 될 것입니다.
