As a part of proactive pharmaceutical administrative service that would be able to make a deep impression on the people, KFDA has prepared “the Guideline for the Package Labeling of the Drug Products (Draft)”which contains the guidance on letter size, letter style, easy medical terms in the packaging components of the drug products to protect customers, especially vulnerable people such as the aged. After the collection of opinions from the relevant organizations such as customer organizations and Korea Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, this guideline will be notified in the first half of 2007 and be recommended for pharmaceutical companies to follow voluntarily for some period. Currently, it is planned the guideline will be reflected on the relevant regulations around 2008 or 2009 through preparatory period. When becoming effective, the guideline would contribute to decreasing the rate of misusage or overdosage and adverse events of drugs.

식약청에서는 국민을 감동시키는 한발 앞선 의약행정 서비스 정책 추진의 일환으로 소비자 특히 노인 등 취약계층을 보호하고 자 글자 크기, 글자체, 어려운 의학전문용어를 쉽게 전환하는 내용을 포함한“의약품 표시기재가이드라인(초안)”을 마련하였다. 이 가 이드라인은 소비자단체, 제약협회 등 의견수렴을 거쳐 ’07년도 상반기 중에 최종안을 공포하여 일정기간 자율 시행토록 권장할 예정 이며, 준비기간을 거쳐 ’08~’09년경에는 허가지침 등 규정에 반영할 예정이다. 이러한 지침이 시행될 경우 국민들의 의약품 오남용 및 부작용 감소에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
