A Study on the movie-viewing experience in a movie theater －A focus on the film ‘Samgeori Theater’－ Kim, Joong-chul This thesis is a study on the meaning of ‘movie-viewing experience’ in a movie theater, through a analyzing the film ‘Samgeori Theater’. Film as a genre and movie theater as a place are different in a conception. A movie theater is the symbolic place of popular culture in our time. The film ‘Samgeori Theater’ has many interesting scenes related with movie theater experience. The story of this film is that the heroine Sodan has a good time along with ghosts in the Samgeori theater. The ghosts are actors and actresses of a discontinued film at the Samgeori theater. They wish to continue to show that film. Sodan rescues the ghosts(actors and actresses) from suffering in a way to find that film and to continue to show it. In this film ‘Samgeori Theater’, darkness of movie theater has a meaning of a essential element to mutual understand between spectators and characters. And this film demolishes a boundary between fiction and reality, or between inside of film-story and outside of it. Characters in a film come out of a screen into the movie theater. The film ‘Samgeori Theater’ shows that many desires are in a movie theater, and that a movie theater consummates understanding and curative functions.
