In this paper I tried to find a way how translating and annotating the kinds of Haengsildo(行實圖), which had been published throughout Joseon dynasty, would go along. I explored, for this cause, the features of the kinds of Haengsildo and examined the previous works translating and annotating the kinds of Haengsildo. I suggested the principles of the methodology for translating and annotating the kinds of Haengsildo as follows: ⓐ including a translation of preface and an explanation of related documents, ⓑ showing off the function and utility of pictures(concretely prints), ⓒ maintaining coherence of grammatical explanation, ⓓ deciding the degree of modernization for translation. In addition, I set up the system for translating and annotating the kinds of Haengsildo as follows: ① a picture(a print), ② a translation in modern Korean(a liberal translation), ③ a photograph of eonhaemun(諺解文), ④ the eonhaemun in print, ⑤ a literal translation of eonhaemun, ⑥ the original text in Chinese and admiring poem, ⑦ annotations. According to these, I gave body to translating and annotating the kinds of Haengsildo, especially by taking an example of a story in Samganghaengsildo(三綱行實圖).

본고는 국어사 문헌자료 중 행실도류 자료들을 대상으로 이 자료들에 대 한 역주가 어떻게 진행되는 것이 바람직한지를 모색해 보았다. 이를 위해 행실도류 문헌자료들이 지닌 특징을 살펴보고, 이제까지 진행된 행실도류 관련 역주 작업들에 대한 검토를 바탕으로 새로운 역주 방법론을 찾아보았 다. 역주 방법론의 원칙으로 ⓐ 서문의 번역과 해제 싣기, ⓑ 그림의 기능과 효용성 살리기, ⓒ 문법적 주해의 일관성 유지하기, ⓓ 현대역의 현대화 정도 결정하기를 제시했다. 또한 이를 참조해 ① 그림[도판], ② 현대어역(의역), ③ 언해문 사진, ④ 활자화된 언해문, ⑤ 직역된 언해문, ⑥ 한문 원문 및 시찬, ⑦ 주석 순으로 된 역주 체재를 세우고 이에 따라 󰡔三綱行實圖󰡕 효자도의 이야 기 하나를 대상으로 역주의 실제를 구현해 보았다.
