There is being asked for the moral education which furnishes a real praxis, a theoretical compact, and a practical warranty according to becoming deep globalization based on knowledge and information. In fact, as the human being centered ethics and method of the modern liberalistic moral education is a reflection of circumstance demands to a establishment and realization of a certain value, the approach of ecological ethics to moral educaion is also a accomplishment of a theoretical investigation and behavioral praxis to overcome a ecological crisis. By going to the ecological monism between human being and nature based on a reflection on a real value, a moral education directed to future has to contribute on overcoming a confronted ecological crisis. The value paradigm to which the current moral education direct should be an incorporated model between human being and nature. Therefore, based on the comparative analysis between the modern human centered ethics and the liberalistic education, there are researched an educational methodical meaning that the moral education directed to the ecological ethics can has in the paper. In detail, firstly, the comparative analysis between the modern human centered nature viewpoint and the ecology value centered nature viewpoint, there was discussed a necessity of moral education in the ecology ethics. Secondly, there were studied what kinds of implications have the ecological ethics in establishing a goal of moral education to form an ecological value. Finally, there were studied what kinds of roles can the ecological rationality, the ecological literacy, the unity between knowledge and behavoir play as the constituents moral education directed to ecological value.

오늘날 현실적 당위성, 이론적 정합성, 그리고 실질적 타당성을 갖춘 도덕교육이 강력히 요청되고 있다. 근대 도덕교육이 인간 중심적인 가치를 토대로 했었다면 앞으로는 생태윤리 기반의 도덕교육이 요구되고 있다. 새로 모색되어야 할 도덕교육은 인간만이 아니라 생태의 고유한 가치도 인정하는 가치관, 자연관, 세계관을 지향해야만 당면한 생태위기의 극복에 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다. 이런 점에서 도덕교육에 대한 생태윤리적 접근은 어느 다른 것보다 유용한 함의를 주는 것으로 생각된다. 현재는 물론이고 미래의 도덕교육에서 지향해야 할 가치 패러다임은 인간과 자연의 통합적 모델이 될 것이다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 생태윤리의 관점을 준거로 삼아 근대 인간중심적 환경윤리와 대비적으로 분석하고, 나아가 생태가치 지향적 도덕교육을 모색하는데 있어 어떤 철학적, 개념적, 교육적 의미를 지니고 토대가 될 수 있는지 고찰하였다. 보다 구체적으로는 먼저, 인간 본위적 자연관과 생태가치 중심적 자연관의 대비적 비교를 통해 생태 윤리적 도덕교육의 필요성을 논의하였다. 다음으로, 생태 윤리적 가치형성을 위한 도덕교육의 목표를 설정하는데 있어 생태윤리는 어떤 직접적인 함의를 지니는지 분석하였다. 끝으로, 생태적 합리성, 문해력, 지행합일이 생태가치 지향적 도덕교육의 구성요소로서 어떤 의미를 지니며, 또한 어떤 기능을 할 수 있는지 살펴보았다.
