From its discovery to now, Tang sancia has experienced a history of about 100 years. Mang mountain in the north of Luoyang is an area where Tang sancai was unearthed in great numbers at the earliest, so the villagers of Nanshishan village on Mang mountain began repairing and copying Tang sancai from the last years of Qing Dynasty by using firing technology of traditional building/glass tiles. After experiencing a process of coming into being and forming, it was greeted its prosperous period in 1980s, when traditional Tang sancai craftwork became representative formative artwork of Luoyang region. However, from the late 1990s, traditional Tang sancai industry of Luoyang region fell into its decline of the period. The decrease of production volume, lack of young inheritors, not designing new products which match times and other reasons made Tang sancai industry fall into crisis. This paper tries to analyze and pack up the topics to face for the traditional Tang sancai industry of Luoyang region by making up and analyzing historical documents and through in‐site survey including inheriting of craftsmen, evolution of technology and etc; and starting from a point of view of design in life, to derive the developing direction in the future. They are the most purpose of the paper.
