This study aims at finding how stakeholder of community lifelong education initiated by schools are formed and deriving some implications for the development and diffusion of community lifelong education initiated by schools. Three public schools as the target for the study have been selected based on the purposeful sampling method of the qualitative study. As the methods of the study, literature review, participant observation, and in-depth interview have been adopted and 23 participants chosen by the snowballing approach have performed the in-depth interview. The result of the study indicates that the formation of stakeholder have varied according to the characteristics of each target school. That is, the school directors' competency for the lifelong education, the distribution of the human resource, the community celebrities' perception toward the lifelong education have affected the formationof the stakeholder. One noteworthy finding is that the formation of the stakeholder would be one key element contributing to the development and diffusion of community lifelong education. Schools should not function as an educational space only for students, and nevertheless schools alone should not take the whole responsibility for pursuing the community lifelong education. There should be mutual understanding and interrelated cooperation between the school and the community and most of all, the stakeholder' commitment to the lifelong education should be prerequisite.

이 연구는 학교의 지역사회 평생교육의 효과가 stakeholder의 참여에 따라 실제 어떤 차이를 보이고 있는가를 발견함으로써 학교의 지역사회 평생교육 활성화를 위한 정책적 함의를 제시하고자 하였다. 연구의 대상은 질적 연구방법에서 사용하는 의도적인 표본 추출 방법으로 3개 학교를 선정하였다. 연구 방법은 문헌분석, 참여관찰, 심층면담이었으며, 23명의 연구참여자를 눈덩이표집 방식으로 선정하여 심층면담을 하였다. 연구 결과, 학교의 지역사회 평생교육에 참 여하고 있는 stakeholder는 연구 대상 학교의 지역사회의 여건, 관리자의 평생교육에 대한 역량, 학교의 인적 자원 구성, 지역사회 인사들의 평생교육에 대한 인식 등에 따라 달리 구성되어 있었다. 주목할 점은 stakeholder의 구성이 학교의 지역사회 평생교육 활성화에 영향을 주고 있다는 점이다. 학교의 지역사회 평생교육이 활성화되기 위해서는 학교 및 지역사회의 다양한 구성원들이 stakeholder로 참여하여야함을 시사하고 있다. 이는 곧, 학교와 지역사회가 깊은 유대 관계를 가지면서 긴밀한 협조를 하여야 함으로 해석할 수 있다.
