The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a marital relationship inventory. Five factors were selected as the factors that might affect marital relationship: marital intimacy, marital communication, sexual life, relationship with the family of origin and relationship with in-laws. Out of the five, the first three were direct factors, and the latter two were indirect factors. Items were selected and arranged based on related theories and the results of empirical studies. The subjects in this study were 106 married male and female adults. After they were tested by the inventory developed in this study, a factor analysis was conducted, and eight factors were selected, which respectively belonged to the five categories: two marital intimacy factors (trust, respect), a marital communication factor(communication), a sexual life factor(sexual satisfaction), two factors of relationship with the family of origin(emotional cutoff, family projection), a factor of relationship with in-laws. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of the inventory was .92, which showed that the reliability of the inventory was good. And the construct validity of it turned out to be appropriate as well. The inventory that was developed in this study are expected to be of use for not only assessment of marital relationship but lifelong education geared toward enhancing conjugal relations.

본 연구의 목적은 부부교육프로그램의 효과성 측정을 위한 부부관계 측정도구를 개발하고 이를 타당화 하는 것이다. 선행연구를 기초로 부부관계에 영향을 미치는 요인을 가정하고 각 요인별 측정문항을 구성하여 요인분석을 실시한 결과, 배우자와의 직접요인인 부부친밀감(신뢰, 존중), 부부의사소통(의사소통), 부부성생활(성만족도)과 간접요인인 원가족 관계(정서적 단절, 가족투사), 배우자 가족관계(시가/처가)라는 5요인(7개 하위요인)을 확정하였다. 검사대상은 현재 결혼생활을 하고 있는 성인남녀 106명이었다. 제작된 측정도구의 신뢰도는 Cronbach's ɑ .92 로 만족할 만한 수준이었고 적합한 구인타당도가 확인되었다. 본 연구에서 타당화한 부부관계 측정도구는 평생교육 측면에서 제공되는 부부관계 향상을 위한 부부교육 프로그램의 효과를 확인하기 위해 유용하게 사용될 뿐만 아니라 상담과정에서 부부관계를 평가하는데도 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
