The welfare policy for the elderly in Korea has been examined in earnest since 1980s. This study has surveyed the overall research result of 219 pieces of dissertation with the keyword, the welfare policy for the elderly, in the Korea Education and Research Information Service(KERIS). As a result of this study, the welfare policy for the elderly in Korea has been one of the most researched. And the economic problems including employment, medical problems and the domiciliary welfare service for the elderly have been researched in order, but the studies on housing policy has been insufficient. This unique phenomenon suggests that the dramatic
changes such as the development of medical arts, the improvement of people`s standard of living with income increasing, the elderly increase preceded by the front and the rear generation have come all at once by contrast with other countries gradually improved, because the enforcement of policies and academic researches have been performed almost at the same time. However, the demand and supply of research including opening the department of welfare in lots of universities. Thus, the further academic study on welfare of the elderly will be expected to be changing.

우리나라의 노인복지정책이 본격적으로 연구된 것은 1980년대 이후부터 이다. 본 연구에서는 교육학술정보원에서 노인복지정책이란 키워드로 검색한 219편의 이론적 논문을 메타분석적인 방법을 통해 노인복지정책 연구 성과를 조망해보았다. 연구의 결과 우리나라의 노인복지정책은 정책에 관한 연구가 가장 많았고, 고용문제를 포함한 경제문제, 의료문제, 재가노인서비스 등의 연구가 이루어졌고, 주택정책에 대한 연구가 부실한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 노인인구의 증가가 점진적으로 이루어진 다른 나라와는 달리 의료기술의 발달, 소득의 증가로 인한 국민생활수준의 향상, 전후세대의 급격한 증가가 노령 층으로 이어 지는 등의 변화가 한꺼번에 이루어진 우리나라만의 독특한 현상 때문에 정책실행과 더불어 학술적인 연구가 거의 동시대적으로 이루어졌기 때문에 나타난 것으로 사료된다. 향후 노인복지 분야의 학술연구에 있어서는 노인들의 삶의 질등에 대한 연구분야가 강화되어야 할 것으로 생각한다.
