The purpose of this study is to suggest the contents of parent education and to clarify the most important content of parent education from the viewpoints of holistic education. In order to achieve the above purpose, the following problems are formulated. 1. What are the contents of parent education? 2. What is the most important content of parent education? There are three content areas of parent education. The first is about the development and education in childhood. There are contents of cognitive development, language development, and socio-emotional development in childhood. And the second is about the view on value system of parents. There are contents of the view on human, the view on the relationship of human and nature, the view on the human relationship, the view on human life, and the view on time. And the third is about the home environment. There are contents of composition of the home environment, the importance of the home environment, and the conditions for the desirable home environment. The view on value system of parents is the most important content in parent education. Because the content of the view on value system of parents is forming through one's life and getting a fundamental change of parents and also giving a chance to reflect one's own life.

이 논문은 미래의 교육 패러다임으로 확고하게 자리 잡은 홀리스틱 교육의 관점을 부모준비 교육에 적용해 보려고 노력한 하나의 산물이다. 홀리스틱 교육은 세 가지 관점, 즉 균형, 포괄, 연관의 관점을 지니고 있다. 먼저 균형적 관점에 비추어 보면, 어린이의 지적 발달은 어린이들의 감성적․신체적․심미적 그리고 정신적인 발달과 적절한 관계 속에서 이루어지는 것이다. 다음으로 포괄적 관점에서는 전달, 교류, 변용이 중심이 된다. 마지막으로 연관성에는 개인과 사회, 개인과 지구, 자기와 자아와의 관계가 속한다. 다만 이 논문은 하나의 시도에 지나지 않을 뿐이고 제대로 된 것인지도 불분명하다. 따라서 부모준비 교육에 관한 내용이 주류를 이루었으며 부모준비 교육이 중점적으로 취급되었다. 부모준비 교육의 내용으로 중요한 것은 인간발달에 관한 내용, 부모자신의 가치관에 관한 내용, 가정환경에 관한 내용이며 그중에서도 가장 중요한 내용으로 볼 수 있는 것은 부모자신의 가치관에 관한 내용이다.
