The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual state of 20 police administ -ration science departments' curriculum in limited area, and to suggestions for development of more adequate curriculum. To achieve this purpose, sampled 20 police-administration science department or major through the internet. And analysis on the content of educational aims or purposes of sampled departments and majors, open course area, and open subjects classified by open course area. The main results of this study are as follows. First, all sampled department or major of police-administration science has educational aim or purpose, but many department or major has ambiguous statement about the image an educated human being. Second, there are many open course area(15 types) such as simply 'major course', basic course/special course, special basic course(required)/special deeping course, basic/special selection, sequence common/special basic/major special, special investigation/special basic/special deeping or applied course, basic/ require/selection course, basic education/special education/deeping education, special basic/free selection/special require/special selection course, and so forth. These phenomena present the very complicated structure of course area for the take a course of students. It is needs to more simplify course structure such as require course and selection course in case of independent department or faculty, basic course/require course/selection course in case of major within faculty. Third, there are confuse in placement of opened subjects classify by open course area such as basic course/require course/selection course, and especially unclearness the relations between educational purposes and opened subjects. Therefor, it is necessary to make an effort to reinforce the connection between educational aims or purposes and opening subjects. Finally, there are require various kinds of efforts such as seminar, discussion, case study to improve the curriculum of police administration science institute level.

이 연구는 일반교육학 교육과정 전공자의 시각으로 전국에서 표집한 20개 경찰행정학부(과)의 교육과정 실태를 매우 제한적인 범위와 기초적인 방법으로 파악해 봄으로써 경찰행정학 학문공동체로 하여금 교육과정 편성에 관한 관심을 불러일으키고 보다 타당한 교육과정 편성 노력을 유도해 보기 위하여 이루어진 것이다. 20개 경찰행정학부(과) 혹은 전공은 인터넷을 통하여 소속 학문의 계열, 교육목표 체계와 진술내용, 교과목 편성 실태 파악이 가능한 사례로 제한한 것이다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모든 경찰행정학부(과)의 교육목표가 잘 밝혀져 있으나, 길러내려는 인간상이 모호하거나 추상적으로 기술되어 있어서 재진술할 필요가 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 교육과정상 교과목 편성은 교육목표와의 일치성과 합치성을 염두에 두고 단일학부나 학과의 경우에는 이수영역의 2원 구조(전공필수/전공선택과정)로, 단과대학-학부-전공으로 이어지는 학문계열 혹은 학부-전공의 학문계열을 갖는 경우에는 3원 구조(학부기초 혹은 계열공통/전공필수/전공선택)를 지님으로써 학생들의 전공 이수상 복잡성을 줄일 필요가 있다. 셋째, 경찰행정학부(과) 학문공동체가 통일된 교육과정 체제를 지닐 필요는 없으나 교과목들의 성격과 교과별 교육목표를 고려하여 어느 정도 표준화 된 교육과정을 구축하도록 상호 협의와 논의기회가 요청된다.
